hi guys i am new to this forum..

here is my timeline

applied at Mississauga 03 jun.
application approved 3 julu
file transferred and received on 13 july.
pp requested 13 Aug.

how long will it take to get passport stamped.

My random assumption is ND is busy with student applications at this time. I checked the STATS, there were 9800 International students originating from India in 2009 in Canada. Add some from Nepal and Bhutan to that and it gives about 2500 applications per year processing at ND. Most of those students would definitely be applying for visa around June, July, August. Hence a delay in our processing. check the stats here: .cic.gc.ca/english/resources/statistics/facts2009/temporary/14.(I had to tweak this because it did not allow me to post links but it is 14. asp)

In Fact, there was a surge in Student Visa application at ND in 2010 due to some 'partnership program' they lunched as a trial which they have continued to 2011 as well. So, they definitely have greater than 2500 Student visa applicants this year at ND.

Hopefully, those Student visa applications are over by now, coz almost all universities and colleges start their session in exactly two weeks from now. So folks, embrace yourself, its our time.

So go head with the civil marriage or church marriages which ever is convenient for both of your family members, even if you wants to get marriage in the registrar office there are priest who conducts marriage as per christian rites and issue you a church marriage certificate and government certificate.

Well one of my friend did registrar marriage @ Bhopal (India) and he submitted Govt marriage certificate for PR, now he is in Alberta got his PR last year. Religious or Govt both are valid.

Thank you for the encouraging words, Borntowin! I'm relieved to know that a simple civil marriage may be sufficient. May I ask how long it took your friend to get his visa? Did it fall within the normal 6-8 months or was it longer?

You are always welcome !

Particular in your case your having enough proofs for genuine relationship and the same case was with my friend too.

He landed within 4 months.

He got marriage in the registrar office at evening time and in the early morning 6am there was a thanks giving mass @ catholic church where all his family members and only close friends around ten including myself attended the mass, Church father has blessed the wedding ring & chain and later it was solemnised by the registrar. ( Photos was taken in both the places) followed by this there was evening reception and dinner.

There was a grand welcome reception at his arrival at Alberta. (He applied for visitors visa but it was denied by CHC, any how he got his PR visa so early).

Good luck and best wishes to both of U
