Hi there,

Ok here you go with my details. My husband who is a Canadian citizen sponsored me back in Sept 2011. My file got transferred from Mississauga to ND on Dec 1. I got acknowledgement letter in Jan and at the same time they asked me to send my PP which i did. After that no news until May ! Suddenly they wake up and decide to interview me to see if the marriage is genuine. I got interviewed in ND on June 13. The interview was so basic. She hardly asked me any questions. At the end of my interview the VO asked me to send my renewed PCC/Meds along with passport and told me that it's a pretty straight forward case. It's been over 2 months i did that and no news ! Ecas showed "in process" since the day of my interview. What are they trying to do further with my case??? Why can't they understand that it's been over a year I saw my husband ! We are both frustrated beyond belief. How much more testing are we supposed to go through staying apart from eachother? I can't focus on my work life either. Isn't it right that interview is the last step to visa?

I feel your pain, I hear you because it's a similar case. What does your wife's e-cas status show? Did you guys write to the High commission? I hear contacting MP might be of help. Your thoughts?

sorry to hear about your long wait but interview is not the last step to get visa but it is only to pass eligibility (initial review) after you pass eligibility, ND sends your case to security agencies for background/ security and criminal checks. if its taking very long after interview, it means your husband has very long travel and work history. after they send your case for these checks, ND has no control over time taken by agencies. they just wait for your checks report and will issue visa right after that. you need to get your checks status by contacting MP or ordering GCMS notes.

ohh you dont need to pay anything to send PM but you must have at least 10 posts in this forum to have access to all facilities you have 8 already and need to post 2 more, you will be able to send PM and update your timeline under your username.

I am little confused, why bc on her hubby? Her husband is the sponsor. If anything it's the background on her right? Once the sponsorship is approved means Sponsor met all criteria right?

Thanks for clarifying Ashu. HNIC is right. My husband is sponsoring me. I don't have too much travel history. I have been on short term basis to U.S, Singapore and Canada (less than a month in all 3 countries). But yes I have changed about 5 companies in my entire work history. Are these security agencies confidential? Are they like 3rd party vendors? You say that security checks are not within CIC's control so does that mean the BC can take even 6 months!!??? Would be great if you could tell me info on this. Thanks for your time.

If you dont have long travel history, work history can be a reason for delay. usually it takes longer for govt. and military services only as in case of HNIC (his wife has Govt. work history)
and yes security agencies can take longer than 6 months for BC/SC and criminal checks

Ditto, this is exactly what my MP's office said about bc/sc on govt employees. Frustrations continuesssss................ Never ending serial

Need one clarifications,

what is actually a Bcakground check according to CIC,

in IT companies they give the candidate details to BC agency to check for the information given by him/her is correct and if the BC is positive then the candidate can continue the employment if not he /she will be terminated..

about VO ND, what kind of informations do they check... do they compare the details what we have given is matching with the BC data's?

in my case am working in a company and will the BC agency check with my present employer and previous employers? i have totally changed 3 companies before coming to this present one.. will this delay my process? I have no travel history...

any thoughts??

Background checks will be done when your case is approaching the timeline. They can range from 1 - even 6 months ! Especially in case of Govt work history. But since you do not have any travel history, there won't be too many delays. Usually background checks are done against the info you have provided in your application to make sure there are no discrepancies. Also they do check your crime records. Basically to ensure your past has been clean or misguided info has been provided.
