If I read the post correctly, it implied those who applied prior to 7th Dec 2016
would be processed latest by Dec 2017 and if that's anything to go by, 80% of cases would be put to bed by the end of the year. For those who applied after Dec 2016, their applications won't be as long...what I'm not sure of is whether their's will be prioritized..But if CICs words are anything to go by, they'll still grant visas chronologically...
We'll know more as cases are being processed.
You are right.

And I have a spread sheet I've been keeping of the past 3-4 years of spousal applicants on this forum and it clearly shows chronological order.

Anyways I understand we're all stressed to the max about this frustrating application process, so I've said what I'm going to say and at the end of the day all this will happen outside of our control, so let's all take a breath and let the pieces fall where they may. Good luck to everyone! :)

All this up and down comments won't have been warranted if AVO had lived up to expectation. Other VOs have already completed 80% (if not more) of application that was received before Dec 6, 2016 and have already started issuing visas to the new system applicants.

What we should be discussing is how to make our voices heard and improve the overall processing time at AVO. How can only 4 visa officers handle 12 countries?

Well said.

This is what we expressed to our MP. I'll write back to them again and clearly state that we are frustrated with how under funded and under resourced they are, while other offices process more quickly.

I agree we need to do more, I'm just not sure what the answer is....

The whole system is messed up.

I ordered for a note 2 months ago and till date it has not arrived. I email them last week and this was their response:

"Thank you for contacting the Access to Information and Privacy Office.
We acknowledge that your request is now overdue. According to our records, your request was due on July 7, 2017.
Your request was assigned to an analyst and we will be sent to you by next Wednesday.
We apologize for any inconvenient this situation may cause.

Wednesday has come and gone still nothing.

Good morning everyone,

I applied for trv last year, i will like to confirm if it is the same number i was given then eg *20160404CALATRV903** i will be given now for the UCI when i get mt first AOR or a different one entirely.

Thank you

On the contrary No.
FIFO doesn't work in this case, though you would not agree.
For those that applied after 2016, it is run separately from the previous scheme, and might get PPRs before the previous scheme.
Have you ever wondered why there are two different timelines, if FIFO, would have been in place?
Please check other VOs, that are going on fast, they still have a backlog with the old system.
It's sad, but that is the way AVO rolls, ejirostephen gave an example yesterday, which I was shocked, most elders didn't react to.
In 2014, Canada changed the skilled worker application form paper to express entry, I got my visa in six months from AVO, and those that applied at the later end of 2014, are just getting PRs in 2017.
You know what happened, AVO started treating express entry, and it took a lot of petitions for them to be looked into.

For the new stream, getting a MR from AVO is a good sign that PPR is knocking, you know why, other applicants get MR from CPC, before being transferred to their respective VOs, we get ours late, Because of the peculiar nature of AVO.
Go check Dakar VO, the new applicants are getting PPR, while the old ones are still waiting with their timeline.
For the old applicants, start raising CSEs, especially if your medical has expired, gentle reminder about your medical status, hence one can get forgotten.
For the new applicants, the MRs have come to stay, PPRs should roll soon
That's exactly what I was saying. Because,I know two people who applied in January and February who have got their PPR and are awaiting their visas which is why I was saying that, the new system is run separately which most people don't understand but as we keep updating each other, I think things will be clarified to those who believe in the FIFO thing.Goodluck guys!!

I agree with you on this.
Other threads, those who applied after dec 2016 got their MR from Mississauga before file was transferred to VO. Only AVO was different.
So if you applied after dec 2016 and your file had been transferred a while now, and you got medical request, then anything is possible.
I also don't believe in the FIFO thing, but whatever makes everyone comfortable.
Don't get your hopes too high but at the same time, don't loose all hopes because people who applied well before you haven't received PPR. Cases are different
Exactly

There's no need for all these back and forth. My heart leaped for joy when I saw 2 unread pages, I thought there was abundance of goodnews only for this but all I see is people praying and hoping thier applications get processed in ample time. But to think VO's just pin point randomly and start processing doesn't make sense in my own opinion.

If the old and new system runs separately is something we ll find out with time. Then again if people will be more specific while giving out info then that will help us better.
Someone said some Jan/Feb applicants have gotten PPR, is it AVO under spousal category cos I for one know a couple that was processed in 4months, same AVO but under PNP so this doesn't count in this context. Then again we cannot deny the fact that some apps are treated with more urgency cos of a peculiar situation e.g. Health. We have seen that happen earlier in this thread. So some factors can help facilitate some apps but that doesn't mean that is the time frame generally.

At the end of it all, this too shall pass someday soon.

Very well said
That's right. I applied on August 2016 but no medical request yet. This is already a year in the process.
Don't really know if anything is wrong and if I should contact them.

Yes try and send them an email to inquire about your app.there is practically no chance they will respond but at least try.

OK I will do that.
