every situation is different. i used a lawyer because he helped guide on how to address and present my previous UK driving convictions. I also know of someone who needs a lawyer because he previously had and relinquished Canadian permanent residency in the late 90s but has since not been granted even a visiting visa for Canada despite having long term visas for UK Schengen and US. So basically, you must remember that all cases are unique

Ohh now I understand, situations actually differs.
Thanks.

Hey Lashen, two options.
1) if you apply for inland sponsorship it will take 24 months to process and get your PR. However, it's advantage is that CIC will give you an open work permit within 4 months of your application so you can work while you are waiting for your PR. It's disadvantage is that you might not be able to travel out of Canada within those 24 months period.
2) the outland application has it's own advantage and disadvantages too. It will be faster for you to get your PR ie 7-10 months period of waiting if your form are well completed and you are confirm eligible to sponsor. AlsoYou have the option of going out and come in. But it's disadvantage is that no work permit for you until you get your PR.
Since you have a potential of getting work permit after your postgraduate, I will suggest you apply for outland application. Your family sponsorship will have nothing to do with your post graduate work permit.
But if you are not sure of the post graduate work permit, inland will be the best option because you can work after 4 months of your application.
CIC web site is a one stop shot you can get more answers your questions.

That is my take.

Hi ikema,

Thank you for your clarification.
I actually qualify for the postgraduate work permit and I don't think I should have any issue.
My worry is, do I have to travel to Accra to submit my passport for pr visa when it's approved or they will post me pr card since I am already in Ghana?
Thanks

No you never have to go to Accra other than in the rare case where they require an interview.
And I have found that in a few cases they often do a phone call. 99% of cases never have to go

Hi all,
Just to update you that I got my passport back from AVO this morning. At long last, it has ended in praise. We applied in January, so it took ~10 months. I will send another update when I complete landing procedures this weekend. Wishing the rest of you in the process nothing but the best. Cheers.
