Hello ItzMimi, I havnt read the rest of the thread, just incase my comment would sound redundant. Moving is challenging no doubts and all the questions you have are valid. It's a major life changing decision and natural to develop cold feet. One thing I would suggest, cause it worked for my family when we were moving years ago, is to land softly. Come visiting with your hubby to come get a first hand impression of what it looks like;visiting just means an initial short period. If on the other hand, you would like to land ones and for all and not go back, it's best if your husband comes along with you for a duration of time, So you can get the support you would need to settle and make decisions. The first few weeks and month matters and you need all the support to can get to properly get grounded. I.e locate and build a new network of friends/ social support- people find this social network mainly from places like church, there you are linked to people who would give you moral support and information on where to get things, health card, Welcome to Canada- New comer agencies, Professional guidance e.t.c You may not even need to start with a menial job if you get the right support and right information from the Word Go! You wont have to go in circles for years because you didn't get the right information when you first landed. So all in all, please if your hubby would not be settling in Canada with you, It would be great if he can be in Canada with you for at least the first few weeks/ months when you need the most support. Then he can return onces you are settled or beginning to settle down.

Thanks DeLI,
you all are just too much.
Your words of encouragement gives one the courage to actually take that bold step.
Yes, my hubby will be with us for the first 2 months at least, then he will have to come back to work, before he prepares to finally join us after a yr or so. Shouldn't be so tough on us. I should be able to manage on my own prior to when he joins us finally. Its doable :)

Greetings I need help with this please.

Applied for PR (Common law family class): Oct 2011
Received PR and Landed: June 2013
Along the line on Sept 2014 my common law partner and I broke up due to some issue I will not like to get into. a month after that I met someone else and we started dating immediately and we plan on getting married in June 2015. After marriage, will I be able to sponsor her or do I need to wait for 5 years?

PLEASE SOMEONE PLEASE ASSIST AS I WOULD WANT TO KNOW WHAT TO DO NEXT. My new spouse resides in Nigeria so apparently the application will be forwarded to Ghana

the 5 years law came into effect in 2013. You are not affected by this law because your application was filed in 2011.
Nevertheless, before the 5 years law came into effect, to be eligible for sponsor if you were sponsored, 3 years must have past after your became PR before you can sponsor someone else.
But will suggest you get advice from an immigrantion consultant before putting in your application.
All the best.

I believe they will send her PPR soon. Looks like the entire processing time from CIC to Accra is average of 9 months. Is that right guys?

They already asked for her passport on April 8 so we should be expecting an email to go and pick up the passport from DHL.

It seems like Accra is working on 6-8 months time frame now.

Congratulations Moh. You are done.not alomts done, but you are done.thank God for you. I pary that each an every one of us here waiting for his/her PPR to receive it with ease in Jesus name. Amen.
