hmmm... i thought it is another hidden message. :D. thanks by the way!

So I sent a CSI to the great MCH today asking if my visas have been issued. After ONE minute, I got his/her reply back:

"Visas should be issued this week. Return is coordinated through our Embassy in Riyadh, who will contact you regarding onward transmission."

At least s/he is not on strike today.

Canadian visa section in Abu Dhabi closed today
Visa processing centres in 15 cities affected by breakdown in talks

The Canadian Embassy visa section in Abu Dhabi will be closed (today) Monday, due to talks breaking down between workers and the Canadian federal government over wages.

Those planning to apply for their Canadian visas in the capital tomorrow will have to alter their schedules, as Abu Dhabi is one of the 15 cities affected by the global foreign-service officers' strike.

In addition to Abu Dhabi, Canadian embassies in New Delhi, London, Paris and Beijing are also amongst the major cities that will pull the shutters on the visa-processing centres.

The Canadian Embassy in Abu Dhabi handles applications from the UAE, along with Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Yemen.
Applicants would have to wait until Wednesday to visit, as the immigration section is closed to the public every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, in addition to the weekends.

Talks between the Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers (PAFSO) and the Treasury Board president Tony Clement broke down on Friday, resulting in the union withdrawing services from 15 centres, as opposed to the earlier three it had announced.

The union is demanding equal pay with counterparts in other federal departments, who they state, make nearly $14,000 more while performing similar tasks.

Clement, meanwhile, blames the union for unreasonable comparisons.

Tourism groups are estimating the diplomats strike cost to reach in millions, as summer being a peak time for holidays and students applying for their visas for the fall semester.

No immigrants (MI1-2-3-4)

LVO is currently busy in sending the MR to MI2&MI3 applicants. I personally feeling that we're next in que. And the que may start from Aug / Sept.

But in anycase (Sorry Jimmy Paa gee) we'll definitely have something back from LVO in Aug or max by Sep if all the things are going well

one recent comment at FB PAFSO -

Does this statement "PAFSO members will withdraw all services until further notice at Canada's fifteen largest visa processing centres abroad" means that they will likely to lock the office at New delhi, and not a single staff would be working ? or is it still a possibility to get medical requests for June 2010 applicants, the way it has been till last thursday. I mean from Friday, June'2010 applicants have stopped receiving MR ? kindly help me to solve this query, Thanks in Advance-

PAFSO - APASE PAFSO members that have been designated essential, and staff that do not belong to our Association will be working, so the offices will not be completely closed. However, they do have flexibility in prioritizing their work, so the only way to know exactly which services they are providing is to contact them directly.

I don't think at this stage, second half of year 2013, quota matters anymore. Their aim is to wipe this backlog by 2014. So they can still, if they want, issue medicals to many, if not all, until later 2013 and hold PPR till first qtr of 2014. Now the things more depend on their processing capacity, mood and outcome of PAFSO strike.

Yes it's simple LVO has 13000 annual quota and I think you are taking these figures from 1st Q 2013 and let say 9000 are left till Dec so 6000 of MI 2 and MI3 will be finished and they will take 3000 from MI 1 so in 2014 there will be 7000 MI1 inventory and I think these 7000 are the W A I T E R S let's hope we don't spend the 2014 August here for good

MI1 should be prior to MI2 and MI3, not able to understand this stuff
