BREAKING NEWS FOR FSWP BEFORE FEB 28th, 2008 CASES

FEDERAL COURT RULES AGAINST WOULD-BE IMMIGRANTS

In an official ruling released today, the Federal Court of Canada has refused to hear the lawsuit against the elimination of backlogged Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) applications. However, Mr. Justice Rennie, who issued the ruling, has left the door open for a possible appeal.

THE DECISION
On March 29th, 2012, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) announced that all applications made to the FSWP before February 28th, 2008 would be eliminated without review. Many applicants wished to challenge this decision, and several hundred added their names to a possible class action lawsuit.
The lawyers representing the applicants argued, among other points, that the decision to eliminate the backlog was in violation of two laws: the Canadian Bill of Rights and Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Justice Rennie expressed sympathy for the plight of would-be applicants. In his official decision, he stated that “applicants have waited in the queue for many years only to find the entrance door closed. They see the termination of their hope for a new life in Canada to be an unfair, arbitrary and unnecessary measure.”

Despite his sympathy, his ultimate conclusion was that CIC's actions were in fact within the bounds of both the Bill of Rights and the Charter. As applications were ‘terminated by operation of law', the court would not proceed further in challenging the government.

What This Means for Applicants
At present, it appears that the Federal Government intends to continue with its plan to eliminate pre-February 28th, 2008 files. As part of this process, government processing fees will be returned to applicants.

Dear All
I have landed here three weeks ago. I wish you all the best but I want to suggest few things.
1. Forget your past work experience as the Canadian market requires the Canadian work experience.
2. Get the license, like the one required in teaching, or look for the thing that facilitates you to get at the right job relevant to your field.
3. The jobs is here is easy to get if you have a local reference. the job is referral based..make contacts and use them as references in your resume.
4. in coming months, the jobs will be open in the spring, so modify your resume to suit to the requirements of retail stores and Tim Hortons.
5. Female or male should prefer to apply at the Tim Hortons as there are many brown skinned people working there. After landing, you will understand the term Brown skin.
6. The best way of job here is to do a security guard course...its easy and job is not that tough if the company is lenient.
7. Donot waste your money in the projects which are long term based. Please find the odd job (to get the Canadian experience) that would bring money for your kitchen (instead of eating up the savings that you would be brining from Pakistan.)
8. For grocery, here is a trend to buy the grocery on every Friday from famous stores as the grocery is on sale. Promotional flyers are a common discussion here and a favourite pastimes of women and men.

Others will share experiences but I stress on the points from 1 to 4. Also, remember to use the immigration centre for taking out the prints of resume and cover letters. To get the Canadian experience, volunter is another way being given by the Immigration centre. This will help alot to adjust quickly in the market. Also, if you want to travel quickly for the job, buy 128 CAD pass valid for a month..its cheaper as compared to 3 CAD token to travel. Two way trip will cost 6 CAD for a single person...and 180 CAD whereas the pass costs 128 CAD. show it to the driver while boarding the bus (TTC bus) and enjoy. Otherwise, keep a wide collections of coins to buy the ticket.
If you buy a three in one printer, also look at the price of the cartridge as the printer is 38 CAD but sometime the cartridge is for 18 CAD. :)

Dear Hina Jamal,

Assalam o Alaikum w.w.

Thanks for sharing great positive information after landing.

As per your statement and many other forum members I have seen that Canada do not consider the past experience in your home country.

My question1:
If you apply for a job in Canada do they need copy/original of all your educational docs & experience certificates which you mention in CV!!!!

My question2:
Will they verify your educational documents & experience before/after you get a job?

I wish you & your family a successful life in Canada.

Please reply at your earliest.

Thanks & Wassalam,
SMSH

1. For odd jobs, they do not ask for them.
2. It depends on the situation. If you apply for a degree programme, they may or may not ask for the verifications. But if someone is coming with a family, its better to go for the odd experiences as compared to jumping at the degree or diploma programmes.

I also suggest instead of getting Condos, visit the mosques nearby and find the notices of rental basements displayed on the notice board. Sometime much cheaper than the condos. Besides, once you get into the condos, the contract is of 12 months and meanwhile if you find a suitable and good accommodations, you cannot cancel the contract. Mosque, Grocery and Halal food are the main items which shud be kept in mind for renting a residential area.

Hina !
Congratulation on safe landing .
I would like to ask when canda1234 , staralihaider and other senior members were active on forum (till Oct 12) your participation in the forum was fabulus .then suddenly you stopped yourself from active discussion and even you didn't share your ppr and visa requests intime .On the other hand you didn't disconnect with forum .If there was some personal reasons you are not supposed to answer .But if you thought sharing info at forum was unsafe in anyway or problamatic on either end then let us know of the scenario.
