There's no need to worry too much. There are few signs you could identify as when you would receive updated doc request or medical. However these are my personal feelings or knowledge gained here & there:
1. check your 6-12 mo wait letter, next to sticker (that shows your file no) there's a no mentioned like 013 or 014. The word 013 means that you would be processed in current year (2013) & 014 means next year (2014). Pl keep in mind that such letters were sent in 2012. Check your letter!
2. check your eCas, a new line added like for OmSai73

We started processing your application on May 16, 2012. This is an addition to other existing lines. This is an indication that you would get LVO intimation in a month's time approx., as your file is being under VO review or registry to send you email or mail.
3. check timelines of NDVO or SGVO, April 2010 applicants are being initiated for processing. So LVO -with a month or two difference- would follow the global VOs pattern.
4. As no new intakes till May 2013, means no new visas would be utilised for new applicants. Even if intake starts no visa issuance till Dec 2013 to new applicants. Hence, all existing visa quota (I assume approx 13,500 for LVO or more) would be utilised for MI1, 2, 3 applicants.
5. To Senate Commtt. presentation, it is said by CIC (Mr. JK) that the proportion of applicants processing is 2:1; means two applicants of MI1 and one case of MI2/3 would be processed (I wish I could find that URL here for reference- if someone could help here, would be great). This is good proposition, so MI1 backlog would reduce & your turn would come soon!
Stay optimistic, if you are with God there's always a rainbow waiting for you!
