Guys, I wanted to get everyone’s feelings here when it comes to resuming in-person ceremonies and whether ppl who have taken the exam are in a more advantageous position.

1) I am under the impression that there has been a significant increase in test invites and DMs lately, not for everyone unfortunately, but if you look at the spreadsheet, there seems to be more invites and DMs than couple of months ago. Am I right ? My assumption then becomes that IRCC may be planning to resume in-person Citizenship ceremonies while maintaining online ceremonies. In addition, judging by the fact that ppl should expect Oath invitation within 3-months of taking the test (according to IRCC website), the only explanation for reaching this goal, and handling increased test invites and DMs, is to resume in-person Citizenship Oaths? I may be out-to-lunch here but I am positive this is coming. Thoughts ?

2) Are applicants who have taken the Citizenship exam at a more advantageous position when it comes to the processing of their application? Why do you think it is that some get randomly selected from a pile of applicants and they’re pushed through processing? This is not applicable for urgent applicants, I know they are handled differently.

Are you wanting in-person oath?

I doubt that they will resume inperson as it will make cic workers to stop using 699 code which they are fighting to keep it since Mar2020.
We have delta variant ticking up, i doubt that they will resume any inperson things.

With the delta plus variant first case discover in Europe a day ago, I don't think nobody is going to resume in person service anymore. We may all end up living in caves.

Hell no I’m not waiting for in-person.. I would take any form of Oath, in-person, online, outdoors in -40 as long as I get done with this process !! I was just being optimistic but yes, Delta variant will screw us all

If the next wave doesn't happen, then it is likely that IRCC will conduct virtual and in-person ceremonies in tandem to tackle the backlog.

Personally I will be bummed if I got an in-person invitation. I have a toddler and no one with me to look after her, I would very much prefer a virtual ceremony.
Not to worry. Even the child born today outside of Canada will even attend oath virtually after 25+ years as cic is not in hurry to reopen in-person test/oath (since covid wont be gone anytime soon as there will be always some cases as people wont get vaccine 100%).

Even if they do, they will find a way for it to be even slower than before. They managed to make automated online testing slow, why cant they do that with in person ceremonies?

Think that in person ceremonies are likely to return soon and I think most will need to do the in person ceremony unless they have a very specific reason for not attending. Citizenship ceremony is an important ceremony and Canada likes to make it a big occasion and many new citizens also want the pomp and circumstance of a citizenship ceremony to commentate the event.

I can't find that document but IRCC did make a document that stated their intentions of using in-person and online oath ceremonies in parallel. This would be very logical if they ever plan to kick the backlog.

You could take her with you. It's encouraged to take family with you for this joyous occasion. But I don't see this is happening anytime soon with the Delta variant rampaging in other countries.
