From what I remember they appeared on the same day. Basically, when I was able to actually login to my ECAS account I saw this:

We received your application for permanent residence on March 13, 2015.
We started processing your application on March 13, 2015.

After that nothing until May 28th when the 3rd line about the medical received appeared.
There are 4 stages - In Progress > Application Received > In Process > Decision Made.

People confuse between steps 1 and 3 for obvious reasons. ;)

Question for you on that. My ECAS has been on the in progess for a long time. It has the first two line with the dates of March 13, which is when I receives the ITA. I got my 3rd line, medical received, on May 28th. The same day my CIC status change from bg check not started to in progress.

Since May 28th, nothing has been updated. Is this usual? I haven't been asked for any addition paper work. The only thing that has happened, is I received an email saying there was an update to my account on May 31st. However, when I checked, there wasn't update.

I have no idea what the hold up is. I'm hoping that if there is something missing they'll just ask ke for it instead of rejecting the appliation.

Hi there,

I would say thats normal. I have no update since May 5. See my timeline in my signature. Some people got their application processed fast for many reasons like they lived only one country, singles or there is not much background check to do, but most of us do have to wait for 3-4 months or even more to see the result looks like we fall into that group. ::) If you got update email even though you dont see any change it means the officer is working on your application.

Your logic behind no progress is not true at all. I have lived only in 1 country all my life except canada. only 1 employer i worked with, that too in canada. I am single and have included all my documents in the application, so no background to check at all. Everything depends on visa officer

There is no logic in CIC at all but that could be one reason too and thats all what I say. When did you apply?

Lol, thanks, that clears up a lot. I kept seeing posts talking about 3 lines and once you have that, everything would move quickly. Now it's been sitting there for a month and I was wondering what's going on! I believe Esantos skipped the in progress ECAS part and went straight to decision made. Maybe I'll have the same thing happen to me.

Back ground changed to "not needed at this time" from In progress
Did you get any email when that happened?

Guys, I'm glad to see this forum for those who have applied from inside Canada - I submitted my application on March 26th but got cancelled on May 14, then back on track just last week after submitting CSE. My timeline is below. We are waiting for the RCMP check for my spouse and will pay the fees shortly. My question is that how long does it take after we submit the RCMP, do we have to submit passports even for those are in Canada? I'm traveling on July 12th and will be away for almost 5 weeks, and don't want to miss up CIC!

Any ideas or insights around the timeline since requesting additional documents would be great!

27 Feb - ITA
26 Mar - Application submitted
27 Mar - AOR
14 Apr - Med received & BC check in progress
14 May - Application cancelled
15 May - CSE
14 Jun - refund received
28 Jun - Application reopened
29 Jun - fees repayment requested (due in 7 days)
29 Jun - RCMP requested (due in 60 days)
