How did you apply in the month of December for May intake 2020 while CIC has the deadline to apply 30th Nov?

I applied in November ending. I’m already in Canada, I’m just extending my study permit which expires in March. Reason of expiry is due to passport expiring, but now that passport has been renewed study permit also has to be renewed.
