Hi,

Those of you who got Visa already and have not opted for a college residence, please share you initial days accommodation plans... Like where are you gonna bunk up on the day you land -> friend's place , homestay , traveller's hostel ....

Also please share the budget that you are planning for until you receive your GIC money ...
 
i have a girl froma consultancy who is picking me up and taking her home and then i dont know what ill do i am leaving on 9th of december for toronto !

So you guys are looking for shared rooms / rentals directly from your home country itself ? or, looking for a temporary stay for initial days (till college starts) ?
 
Finding accommodation isn't a tough task here. Specially around colleges. check with your college if they offer complimentary stay for first couple of days. Else keep some reservation for 1 week somewhere and with 2 days, you will have accommodation in hand.

GIC can be activated the day you land here (irrespective of the college start date, you should have LOI, LOA and passport). Same day you will have a chequing, savings account + Debit Card + Visa card (credit card which will be available after 7 days).

Check Kijiji site and keep some options in hand. Once you land here, check them out and there you go.

I got medical request from embassy.
I wanna know

1) how to get appointment with doctor ( i have emailed on friday, no response so far, they don't receive phone calls)
2 what are steps after medical is done and submited.
how long it take to issue visa
( i have applied online)

1. go to this link http://www.cic.gc.ca/pp-md/pp-list.aspx
2. you will find list of dmp in pakistan
3.make an appointment
4.carry the required docs mentioned in your mail.
5.watch it coming.

i have emailed them for appointment because according to them this is only way to get appointment.
Can u tell me Medical tests are done for what? i mean what diseases? i heard of TB and HIV. can u tell me what exactly is examined?

I don't know how it goes in pakistan!
but, from I experience (India).
first you want to fill the form and he/she will tell u the procedure regarding And they will take photo.( don't forget to take your passport, letter from embassy, photos, LoA)
1.Then they will take your blood and urine samples.
2.Then you must likely undergo for X-ray
3.finally, they ask will tell u to meet doctor xyz (in same hospital) and he will asking questions regarding your health and he will take your B.P readings and fill the form.
4. come back to the reception and check whether everything went right.

hope this helps.

side note: will taking your b.p reading be cool best you use a rest room before reading or it may show high b.p levels.
