WOW! That was indeed a great story.

I am only half way through the process, but my biggest concern at this point is the adjustment I would have to make on going from an extremely well placed position here (attained after working my ass off for 15 years) with one of the biggest global corporations, to a position of a daily wager of sorts (at least in the start, I presume).

I have my Bachelors and MBA from the States, but how much will that help me in getting at least a mid-level position in Canada, if at all.

Having said that, I have a strong belief that being too comfortable with your life leads to deterioration. The struggle is what matters, and the struggle and perseverence is what brings opportuntities closer to you. No pain, no gain

I guess unless I try, I won't know.

Anyway, thanks for sharing that.

'ciao

That's why, I have always said : earn as much as you can while waiting for your turn, and gain lots of financial knowledge for your investments.

For you will need this passive income to sustain yourself while in Canada, for long term if the cashflow you are generating from your investments are enough to do so.

Otherwise,... the income should sustain you at least for the first few months before you managed to settle down comfortably, or before you become stable there.

Earn as much as you can, and invest in as many instruments as you can that can provide you with Passive Income.

At the end of the say, money counts, and a comfortable life in Canada counts. Pay your taxes well while you are there and contribute to your chosen country.

Good lessons to learn from your story. But I think if you had done your homework properly you wouldnt have gone through that situation. Anyway your hardships paid off and you are in good position today. Wish you more successess ahead and thanks for sharing your story.

Hi Josh,

Your post was very honest and could really sense your kind concern for the new immigrants on the half/full way to their dream land ( like you all of us are dreaming the golden period/life there for us as well as for our next generation and we forget the potential stormy days we could have faced). In our dreams, everything seems to be flower-bed and no trouble, all smooth like a fairy tale. However, you let us to open the eyes to see things at all views while to strive to conquer/face the reality with vigilance, perseverance, endurance and strong determination. These heartfelt words came from your long journey could certainly save the money and exhausted times of many of us and lift our spirit up for unseen long voyage in our dream land.I strong believe that if you consider for the others, God will consider for you. Then we all know that there are many people around the world with beautiful and kind heart. I have heard that Canadians are very friendly and willing to lend hands when need.
May God bless you and your loved ones.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for sharing these facts.

Its very easy to discuss courage full or wining stories, but its very hard to share concrete truth and struggles..

Hats off to you buddy!!! God Bless You.

Well written! somehow this story does raise few questions, how come we never had anything from you in the past on this forum? SO how did you manage your immigration process did you not join any forum?

You must be working as a general manager in HP if you had more than 120 people working for you. To work in HP Canada you don't need any extra qualification as it is an American Company and moreover it is a global company. Did you not try in HP first?

Your Story has a dialect that can only come from somebody who is a local from upnorth in the UK or who has lived in the UK for very long.

It is hard to believe that a person of your calibre who got noticed by the management while working in a nightshift making burgers did a poor research before coming to Canada and on top of that both of you were working in Top Management positions in India.

No offence to you it might be true, but I would say Well Drafted and Well Crafted!! It dosen't change anything,
