Hi forum,
I am currently in canada, and I want to ask that when i landed in canada, Immigration gave me a Study Permit on which its all written( my college name, my course ending date, my visa expiration date ) and at the end it is also written "THIS DOES NOT AUTHORIZE RE-ENTRY".
What does this mean? If I want to go to India in inbetween can I go and again come back before the expiration?
Please experienced people tell me what does this mean?

If you are an Indian citizen, then your require a TRV (visitor visa) to re-enter Canada as well as your study permit.
You can apply for a TRV at an office outside Canada, either the US or ND.

It means that again I have to apply for Visa from Canada Immigration from where I applied for study visa? and can they reject it? and how much does it cost?

1. Yes, apply again at visa office in US or Delhi/Chandigarh CHC. It's better not to leave Canada without a TRV or you might run the risk of not being allowed back in Canada, even if you possess a valid Study Permit.
2. Yes, you might be refused from re-entering Canada if you are not following immigration rules e.g., working off-campus without a work permit or you have stopped attending classes.
3. CAD 75 (for single entry)/CAD 150 (for multiple entry).

hey enfield can i apply for TRV in canada also?... What if i dont have a Canadian TRV i only have Study permit thats it.

Hi both I just talked to customer care in Canada Immigration Canada, they told me that if your visa is multiple and u come back before the expiration of your visa, then there is no problem with that line THIS DOES NOT AUTHORIZE RE-ENTRY.
You should bring the following documents with you:
1. Your visa
2. Your study Permit
3. Passport
4. Bank account ( having enough funds that shows that you can stay in canada)
ALL THESE DOCUMENTS SHOULD BE VALID.

* I want to ask that we all know that we have to get an education loan before coming here, can I show the bank loan letter?
And tell me again that after reading all this do you still think that I need a TRV to re-enter into canada?

Hi,

1. First check the expiry date of TRV on your passport and whether your TRV was issued for "multiple OR single entries". If your TRV was issued for a "single entry", you have already used this entry when you entered Canada for the first time. You MUST apply/secure a new TRV before you re-enter Canada.
2. As per CIC, to re-enter Canada, you need only:
-a TRV (multiple/single)
-a study permit
-a valid passport
3. You can only apply for a TRV from outside Canada. You must apply for TRV to the nearest Canadian visa office outside of Canada. The nearest offices are located in the U.S: in Buffalo (New York) and Detroit (Michigan).

Hi All,

I think there is a confusion here.

It says that only study permit is not valid for re-entry. You need Visa as well, which is in your passport.

I am on study permit, and I have visited India, without any trouble when I came back.

FYI, I have applied my study permit from New York, USA. I do not know if this thing make difference.
