"Anticipating another surge in demand, the Harper government has, in the past few weeks, formalized a series of changes to speed up the program. Now able to bring in people with just 10 days notice"

Then why does it still take months and months for family members?

Because our fearless leaders are clueless and have never really understood the process.

What they should do is send Kenny (I hate that name!) abroad and let him apply for a spousal visa...let him live in a country that he doesn't like...away from his family...when he eventually gets the visa and returns to Canada, maybe then he might have a better understanding of what it's like...then real change might be possible.

Send Kenny and Harper (another name I hate!) packing come next election!!!

It's true, when I applied for Ca PR, I heard that it place where family can unite which looks hard in UK , but now I feel UK , once you are PR or even Tier 1, it's easy to call your parent .

Why Ca has prob in giving visa to parents easily.

They Crying for there health services , though they just half the population of UK, France etc. which give free medical care to all his residence , even temp , regardless they are paying taxes or not .

Instead of complex funds requirement and insurances they could simplified process by taking 4-5000$ as visa fee and giving visa quickley.
