Hi All,
I have applied for MASc. in Electronic Systems Engineering at University of Regina for Fall 2015.
My Profile is:
Master of Engineering (MEng. ) Electronics and Communication Engineering from The University of Sheffield, U.K
Score : Second Class Honours, Upper Division (in GPA it lies between 3.3-3.7 on a 4.0 scale)
IELTS : 7.0 (Although I don't require it since I graduated from UK.)

How do my chances look ?
Are this credentials good enough to get admission in UoManitoba, UoAlberta and UoBritish Columbia too?
Thank you

Hey i applied for Meng Industrial engineering at Regina.

For MAsc you will have to get a professor's approval to get accepted. Suggest you to contact professors of your research interest send them you application details, and a brief statement of interest as the email body. If the professor likes your profile you will get admitted.

My only doubt is you have a masters degree already i am not sure if they would ideally accept you. You should mail the Graduate admission Committee to know if your application will be considered.

Since you have already applied. ensure you mention your application number and other details in all emails.

this email address might help:

all the best!

Well MEng. in UK is very different, it's a 4 year complete degree while BEng. is a 3 year Degree and MEng. is considered to be an Undergrad degree outside Europe, (In UK MSc. is a one year degree) so that wouldn't be a problem I guess. But yes I am trying my best to secure the supervisors. None of them are replying, the only person replied said he has retired... I got trolled so bad :p
So on the supervisor issue I am totally working on it.. but all my efforts so far has gone in vain.. no reply from anybody...

But other than that does my credentials look good ? (for MEng. atleast?) because if I get rejection here then I will apply for MEng. for next available term.

They told me securing a supervisor isn't mandatory :( it's a real pain in the neck to get a supervisor to supervise u... anyway thanks for your advice I would confirm a couple of things from the department now.

Sorry i don't know the UK system.

If that is the case then your scores are very good. Your chances of acceptance is high

I do agree getting the supervisors to reply is a tough task. I had emailed them in Feb 2015 still no replies from anyone that's almost 4 months now. But i went ahead and applied as i wanted to join the masters at the earliest. I applied for MEng

Manitoba, Alberta, BC are all ranked higher than Regina so the competition is tough but your academics are good you have very good chances of acceptance. I hope you have a good SOP and LORs to support your interests.

According to my judgement you will get into MEng(non-research) in these universities a lot easier compared to research masters. The most important criterion for research masters that i have observed is research publishing in international journals and research achievements. I am presuming that you have not published research thesis in journals, this is the only flaw in your profile i foresee.

Exactly, I don't have any publications as MEng is a coursework based degree. However you are right I am persistent and trying to get someone to supervise me rigorously. I am no planning to apply for MEng. at some of the Universities I mentioned, I guess odds would be much better in MEng. than in MASc.
Thanks a lot for your advice

no problem

i have another suggestion i am not sure about the universities you have mentioned here. But i know for a fact that there are some universities which allows you to change from MENg to MaSc after the first year of masters. There some criterions, applicable to a few universities(i know Dalhousie university gives this option). You may check with the universities you have shortlisted if such a thing is possible. I can confirm that this option is not there with Manitoba (coz i have mailed them regarding this). But regina, BC, Alberta try contacting the admissions committee.

All the best.
