I think mainly inuit population but if Santa is there, probably job opportunites at his workshop :)

I have never lived up north but people I know who have, say it's a completely different culture up there. Different sense of time and other things. I know a woman who is a chef in a hospital way up in the north of Quebec and she said it's rare for people to show up for work at any certain time or even certain days. She gets pissed off at her workers because they didn't show up for their shift or they came but a few hours later or they came on time but left in the middle of the day and they don't understand what's the big deal.

I hear about that, is because the weather I think, I'm use to get always on time or 10 minutes before, hope Alberta is not the same as the way north of the country :-D

Most employers in AB will expect you to be on time. Depending on the company, you may get away with a certain amount of being late because there is low unemployment and if the employer fires somebody for being late all the time, he will have a problem replacing that person but the person he fired will have another job next day.

My employer has punch clocks so you don't get paid for the time you miss but they still discipline people if they are late a lot. If somebody left in the middle of the day without permission or didn't show up for a shift and didn't call in sick, he would get a verbal warning. If it happens again any time soon, written warning, happens again, written warning and a 3 day suspension. Keep it up, eventually be fired but it all depends on if it's happening over a short time or a long time and how long they have been there. Being late is not as serious but consistently being late would be a verbal warning, continued behaviour, written warning etc.
