Hi!

I have entered/visited/lived in multiple countries during my life and I want to report all these statuses for Question 13.

Some of the travels didn't require a visa before arrival. Just an entry and exit stamps on the passport. These trips were short for few days for a vacation or business.

Some other travels a visa was granted on arrival at the airport. Also, with entry and exit stamps but no visa sticker.

In one case I was granted a visa for a business trip but I don't have access to my old passport which contains the visa sticker and the visa details and the type of the visa.

Finally, some statuses were granted as a child while being dependent and I don't have access to the old passports or visa/status details.

For each case mentioned above, what should I select as a status and effective dates? Should I provide a letter of explanation for the ambitious cases?

In one case I entered a country for 3 days but the countries official website says that the granted status if effective for 30 days. Should I report the entry and exit dates or the 30 days period as effective dates?

Help is appreciated

I first tried to answer the Question about Immigration Statues, with details about my citizenship and work/residency visa in UAE. But then scrolling through the comments in this form and this tweet: Made me rework my response and end the end..

I had several visa (on arrival) for Middle East countries issued over the last 10+ yrs for which I got visas's on arrival and several visit/business visas from Schengen countries stamped on my passport.
In the application form I grouped e.g. multiple travel to each Oman, Qatar, Germany e.g. in single row starting the first time I received the visa on the passport (either on arrival or stamped by embassy prior to travel)

Besides this I included a Letter of Explanation providing a detailed break-up on these visa and reasons e.g. visa on arrival valid for xx days or visa issued by embassy in UAE or Toronto as another example

For the visit visa's on arrival I had included Date of entry as visa issue date and validity date was as per the date validity of the visa and not the exit date. e.g. I visited Muscat, Oman on 1st June 2016 and exited the country on 2nd June 2016. The visa validity was 1st June 2016 and 28 June 2016 (Oman used to provide visa on arrival for 28 days, visa validity is stamped on the passport).

In case of Germany e.g. I got visa stamped by the consulate/embassy before traveling. So the visa issue and validity date would be as per the visa stamped on the passport and not the entry/exit to the country

The question is about citizenship and immigration statutes and not asking for travel dates. The issue and expiry date as per visa stamped on your passport should be included..
In my case visa's for countries like Oman, Qatar, were issued to be on arrival so I had to include the date of arrival. There visa's were usually issued for a period 10 days, 28 days or 30 days e.g. so I included those dates in the Letter of Explanation (LoE), although my trips to these countries were for less than a day, 2-3 days or 4-5 days at the max.

In case of my trips to Germany some visas were issued for 6 months some for 12 months few others for 2 years, so I mentioned those issued and expiry dates as per the visa although I traveled only for 1 week at most

If you decide to include a LoE you can also include a column "remark" highlighting if the visa was on arrival or stamped by consulate/embassy of the respective country
