hi moe, did you got this email as writing or verbally? If it is by writing then there is a reason for getting frustrated, otherwise if it is verbal then it doesn't make more sense and don't spread this info as well until its get materialized.
Hi,
I got an email from my MP but it seems they have got the information verbally by phone.

I contacted them by email and this is the response:

Hello,
I spoke with a CIC officer this afternoon and was told the following:
-your application was received on ----;
-there is no positive selection decision rendered yet.
As there is a new way of applying for permanent residency (through the Express Entry program) for your category, priority was given to the EE applications. Therefore, the applications received prior to the EE program are not being processed as quickly as expected.
I was also told that although the processing time as shown on CIC website is currently 14 months, it will be reassessed to reflect the actual processing time, which should be close to 20 months.
If you would like another update, please contact us in 2 months to remind us.
Regards,

thanks for this update.

I am also thinking of writing to my local MP, but the contact email address is with MP's name. Is it okay if we email the MP directly ?

In my opinion, preparing reports to media and contacting MP are unlikely to change anything such as processing time. CIC always do things at their own pace. It's similar to working with a lazy senior co-worker who is at a company prime position, has seniority and authority, and he/she doesn't care about any progress or deadline on projects, always dodge his/her responsibilities and ignore conflicts.

I predict that 20 months is the minimum processing time considering the delays that CIC already have, any further delays will add on top of 20 months. It is not impossible that old CEC processing time will extend to somewhere similar to live-in care giver processing time, 36 to 48 months.

The July to October applicant's progress until now, which is 12 to 16 months after filing, is no more than past applicant's progress after their filing of 2-3 months. 12 to 16 months now = 2 to 3 months in the past.

Should we re-apply under EE? No one knows the answer coz EE is new process.

even they decide send MR to Aug 2014 applications , it means in 6 months they need finish 3 months volumes and at same time keep EE's speed .

it is impossible for them . because all these case security check , background check is not start status based on GCMS result in this forum .

except CIC change mind to focus on clean backlog, or else, the waiting maybe years. or just cut off .

Better to die trying, than never try at all. You can of course apply through EE as long as you have enough points to get an ITA.
