The "Event Scheduled" Message

Hi everyone,

It has been about 14 months since I submitted my PR application. I am already in Canada on a study permit and I applied for PR from inside Canada (Inland).

Yesterday, I received 2 emails saying there were new messages in my account for PR application. In my account, the title of the first message is "Event scheduled" and it is actually a letter that says:

"We are pleased to advise you that the processing of your application for permanent residence will be finalized at an interview that has been scheduled for:
Date: ------- Location: ---------"

It also asks me to bring with the following:
  • A copy of this letter.
  • A valid passport or travel document; if you were previously advised that you are exempt from the passport requirement, bring other documents establishing your identity;
  • Two photographs are required for each person in your family that is being processed for permanent residence in Canada.
  • IMPORTANT: If already in your possession, remember to bring with you the document entitled “Confirmation of Permanent Residence” (2 copies).
  • If you have not already paid the fees, please follow the hyperlink below to do your payment. Fees in the amount of $490.00 per adult who is subject to permanent residency must be paid prior to obtaining Canadian permanent resident status. This also includes the members of your family included in your application who are living outside of Canada.

The title of the second message in my account is "Information letter" and includes the following topics:
Understanding Permanent Resident Status
What permanent residents can do
What permanent residents cannot do
Keeping your permanent resident status
Losing your permanent resident status
The Permanent Resident Card
Find free newcomer services near you
Canadian Citizenship
Travelling Without Your PR Card
Additional Information
Social Insurance Number (SIN) Program
Provincial Health Coverage

So, my questions are:
1. What does this all mean? Does it mean my PR application has been approved and that they only want to interview me and then give me the PR card? (I think this might be the case, because they have asked me to bring my passport and photographs with we as well.)

2. What can the interview be about? Has anyone had a similar experience?
Thank you.

Bring the receipt and all the documents mentioned. The letter you got is a form letter.

The interview is not a scary thing. They mostly want to confirm you are you, by reviewing ID, and confirm you still wish to be a PR.

Hi there
Congratulations!
They call it the Landing Interview. But, it isn't really an interview. They just want to see you in person and get you to sign your COPR (Confirmation of Permanent Residency) document. Of course they ask you a few simple yes/no questions to which your answers are probably no. Questions like "Have you had criminal convictions in the past? Have been refused a Canadian visa or entry to Canada before?" and so on. You've already answered all these questions in your PR application. They just want you to confirm those previous answers of yours. So, don't worry at all. Just take your payment receipt (with Barcode) and your photos (1 stamped at the back) and they'll give you your COPR !
