After extensive research on this forum, i found that the required match between your job duties and NOC duties shouldn't be less than 70%. This is quite absurd and unfair considering how broad are the duties of some NOCs. Lets take my case for example, I chose 2132 - Mechanical engineers. I work in construction so basically that has to do in installing and maintenance which covers the following 5 duties to a certain degree :
And that makes around 50% of the duties only !
Lets take my friends who work in design as another example. No one but a mechanical engineer can work in this if the job is to design mechanical systems, such as HVAC,oil and gas facilities, plumbing firefighting etc. They perform these 3 duties but a to a certain degree too:
I don't know about other NOC professions, but in mechanical engineering professions you're either in design or construction/contracting, most people can't cover both. I have no Idea how someone can match most of NOC 2132 duties.....
Thoughts?
- Plan and manage projects, and prepare material, cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications for machinery and systems
- Supervise and inspect the installation, modification and commissioning of mechanical systems at construction sites or in industrial facilities
- Develop maintenance standards, schedules and programs and provide guidance to industrial maintenance crews
- Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems
- Supervise technicians, technologists and other engineers and review and approve designs, calculations and cost estimates.
And that makes around 50% of the duties only !

- Conduct research into the feasibility, design, operation and performance of mechanisms, components and systems
- Analyze dynamics and vibrations of mechanical systems and structures
- Design power plants, machines, components, tools, fixtures and equipment
