People can find fault with all leaders. Trudeau seems to be blamed for everything. Funny how there are real estate bubbles around the world (although ours is the worst followed close behind by Australia) and worldwide inflation but that is all Trudeau’s fault and also apparently also controls the interest rates. No recognition that Harper was in the position to tighten up lending rules at the beginning of the housing cycle but instead brought in 40 yr mortgages and purposefully made housing a larger portion of GDP. Lots of criticism of Trudeau but can criticize all leaders and politicians
The whole system is broken . Immigration, housing , infrastructure, procurement, healthcare. Least this Government was good at doing nothing for the last eight years . Oh wait . They banned plastic straws . Someone posted on here don’t complain about things . No, I’ll complain. Because ONLY now is the General population realizing how much this country has gone down the tubes . I’m in Tokyo right now . It takes 10 years to become a permanent resident here . 10 YEARS. And it MUST be concurrent. None of this 2/5 years . And even then people complain about that . Finding every way to work the system
Not sure we should be envious of the Japanese system. It is very well known that immigration is extremely restrictive in Japan. Their ageing population and extremely low birth rate is causing significant problems. They will need to open up immigration out of desperation.
Pretty easy to argue that both weren’t part of this housing cycle and especially Chretien

Still people would find it to be paradise because it is not Canada and it is not run by Tradeau.

This housing cycle and the cost of housing really started going up in the early 2000s.
Does anybody have experience with Medcan or similar paid private healthcare options in Ontario? Trying to understand what care Medcan is (1) allowed to provide (2) prohibited from providing.

Yep. Old people are dying because they can't see their doctor in months if not years but some here are saying, this is canada, you should get used to it. The ugly truth is, like everything else, Canada is riddled by regulations, red tape and gatekeeping. They invite foreign docs but don't allow them to practice. They have limited seats in med school to prevent their wage from being lowered cos they fear doctors will migrate to usa.
Nobody is inviting doctors from abroad. MDs are immigrating. The licensing process and difficulties are well documented and easily accessible with a few google searches. The major issue is residency spots and doctors not wanting to become GPs. You can increase the number of physicians but you want to train them properly. Paying GPs more will also have more medical students become GPs. The bigger issue is nursing shortages, lab tech shortages, diagnostic imaging shortages and Gap shortages. You need to fix those issues because that is leading to a lot of the issues in our medical system not the actual physician. Some med school grads can’t get hired in Canada. Most current physician only get a fraction of the procedure or OR time they want because of lack of support staff (which is an issue in the OR but also for staffing beds) and money not the doctor. Increasing numbers in nursing schools (plus being flexible with scheduling and paying them more since we are already paying agencies a lot more), opening up at least one more GP only med school but preferably 2+, increasing the number of schools and spots for training diagnostic imagining techs and lab techs, paying GPs more and making sure all leftover residency spots get matched in the 2nd round by IMGs if they are willing to train anywhere is where we should start.
