YIKES!! I had no clue!

I really don't know how to feel about this.

i think u will know more in the sponsor approval letter; they will probably transfer the file to vienna directly...but yeah when things like this come noone knows how to feel abt it.....one thing is certain: it puts more pressure on offices which already had files to handle => waiting and more waiting....but i think vienna timeline was better than the berlin one, although now it might increase ::)

ya, that's exactly what I am worried about.....Vienna has been pretty fast...but now processing Germany and the Netherlands. And somehow, I doubt they have more agents working the new load. Hardy har har.

Man oh man.

You'd think they would finish with applications already received at those visa offices, or at the minimum, inform applicants ahead of time so that people aren't freaking out. It would also be nice if CIC included more detailed information as to the reasons for the closure...not simply 'due to budget cuts'. I think they owe us at least that much.

I hope that those affected will not be delayed!

Hi!

I've read that Tokyo applications will be moved to Manila.. While I don't have any idea on the volume of cases from Tokyo, I'm sure this would have an effect on the current caseload and processing time for Manila visa office.. Unless there's already a process in place to ensure things would proceed as normal..

I'm hoping this wouldn't mean longer waiting time for Manila applicants...

Closing visa offices......what is the government of Canada thinking? They stopped sponsorship applications for parents and grandparents to help get rid of the backlog,or so they say. So now they are closing offices,if they are trying to clear backlogs closing offices is only going to create more. Now my spouse and I can look forward to a longer processing time.

I just hope this wont affect my application in Manila because my passport has been with them since december and my application might be buried when applications from Japan comes to mla

I would imagine this would not affect your application if your passport is in the office now. It is my understanding the Tokyo office was not a very busy office, thus why it probably was closed. Myself would wonder about what it will do to those that were processing in Tokyo, would they now have to start over with the waiting time of Manila?

Who knows how many more they are going to close? I know understand why they have to close more office when it seems things could be handled more efficiently if they had more workers. I hope they don't lose some applicants files during the transfer.

It's sad because i was under the natural assumption that the visa officers would be able to view your relationship in a cultural context.. being from the same culture as the person applying. I was worried they would change another rule before I could get my app in, I'm so glad to have it sent!

I am worried about my application. Singapore time line is 22 months. Now it will increase to more than three years. :(

i doubt they have more agents, actually it looks many got fired (hopefully transfered to other departments but probably not all)...i don't know i have a weird feeling and idea in my mind: for long time ppl complained abt why some embassies r faster and some r slower, so on, and now it looks to me instead of making it better and faster for everyone, they will make it slower for many others and so they don't have that reasoning of complaining ::) ::)

yeah at least the other offices taking over Manilla, Vienna had a good timeline but Singapore......they really didn't need more files :o i feel bad for those in process in KL now, they knew they had to wait 9 months, maybe they were close to that and now with the transfer they get delayed and r in an office where they r just at the half of the way ::) on a good note, some people do have positive experiences and do finish much faster than the presented timeline :)

on a last note, talking from what i saw with Damascus applicants who went through the same thing a few months ago, the transfer can take a few months (the cases closer to the visa or who waited long time r in general transfered first); if people already waited for a while, have their file almost done, the new embassy will continue working where it was left out and they won't have to wait from 0 again....so yeah that could slow down everyone....if ur file just arrived there and u applied 3 months ago and if a transfered file arrived after and waited 9 months, they will do the transfered file first...also some received email/letter abt the transfer (very few), some saw it on e-cas but many didn't know anything and still don't (they just assume their file was transfered in a particular place)....it doesn't mean it will happen the same, it depends also on each vo's work style....but yeah these r not so much fun times ::) stay strong everyone, but most importantly stay patient :)
