Hi , what do you need to cross the boreder from canada to usa , i live in South Africa and i got a job in canada, im getting a visa and work permit to work there , will they accept my work permit to go through the border to go visit my friend in the usa??

No - of course not. Your Canadian work permit only allows you to enter Canada. The USA is a separate country with separate entry requirements. If you want to enter the US as a visitor, you will need to obtain an US visitor visa.
