Hi legalfalcon,

i have a question its not exactly about my application, let me know if you can guide me on this.
i ordered gcms note past week, when i was proceeded to payment page i put my card details and clicked on transmit payment, but an error appeared on my screen , i was not sure whether the order was completed or not and after waiting 1 hour i ordered notes again this time it was sucessful and i got a confirmation email too.
but today i checked and found that my creditcard was charged twice, but i got confirmation only once
Where did you order the notes from, GCMS now or Visa File? If it's either of them, send them an email and they will refund the extra charge.

If you ordered it from the CIC website directly, send an email to CIC.

Or i have fill on any form.
I was out of status for 3 months and i applied for resotation in FEb and got in APril.
Can they ask anything like that? If yes then what should i write

During the flagpoling no questions about your status is asked. If you were previously out of status and you filed for restoration, which was done, you are all good.

The only questions which will be asked when you complete the landing process (flagpoling) will be the same that will be on the COPR, which are:

have you committed any crime?
Medical condition?
Dependents, if you have any? and if you don't they will ask you.
They might ask you for Proof of funds in you are not a CEC applicant.

Further, your out of status must have been verified during your background check before you were given the PR. So relax and all the best.

No need for a job letter. Usually for CEC they do not ask for PoF if you were not required to submit one with your EE application.
All you need to carry with you is:

A valid Passport
COPR (Original)
If you have your own vehicle, make sure you have the papers for it with you. If it's a rental do carry the papers and if you borrow it from a friend, do have an authority letter. They rarely ask for the papers of the car, but it is always better to have them.
PoF - it can be the same that you submitted along with your EE application. If you were exempt from furnishing a PoF, no need for it now and they won't ask you for it either.

Landing is a short and sweet process. The only questions you will be asked are the ones that will be there on your COPR about your dependents, medical status, and crime.

Are you flying, driving or arriving in Toronto by some other mode of travel? Based upon your answer I can either type down what all you would need or provide you with a link.

You should have along with you the following documents:

1. Passport with the Canadian Visa
2. COPR (2 copies - one with a pic)
3. 2 additional pics
4. A copy of the proof of funds, if you submitted one in support of your EE application.

When you land at Toronto, you will be asked to go to the immigration when you will tell the officer that you are landing as a permanent Resident. They will send to another area where you will find a few others who are landing as PRs. The line will depend on how many flights have landed. It does not usually take long. If you are landing as a family, all of you can be togeather as a group.

When your turn comes you will be called by an immigration officer who will check your passport, stamp it, enter your record in the system, stamp the COPR and ask you to sign it in front of him. He will keep one copy of the COPR and give the other to you. Most immigration officers neatly fold it and staple it in the passport next to where you have your visa. During this time, he will also ask you questions about your health, how many dependents you have, and if you have been convicted of any crime. He might ask you for the address where you are living, if you have one, give it to him so that it can be added into the system. This is where your PR card will be shipped. If you do not have an address, you can tell him and then you will have to update it once you have it online through MyCIC. Make sure you update your address within 180 days of landing as a PR.

From here you will be sent to the customs where you will collect your baggage and meet a customs officer who will ask you about your lugauge. If you are carrying over $ 10K in cash you will need to declare it and also declare any jewellery you are bringing in along with food. Read the card carefully and when in doubt answer yes.

Since you are entering Canada you can bring goods of personal effect duty-free. Make sure if you are carrying anything on which duty can be imposed, you will need to fill BSF 186A (2 copies) http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/bsf186a-eng.html

If you need more space make copies of the form. If you have goods coming later, make copies of the form and keep it ready (2 copies).

Just be calm and the officers there are very friendly.

For further information read: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomers/after-checklist.asp

Once you are done with the customs and immigration there is a counter at the airport to apply for the Social Insurance Number. So make sure you apply there, which will depend on at what time your flight lands. If it's midnight, the Canada Service Centre (the agency that deals with the SIN) will be closed and you will have to go to the one closest to where you live. Their addresses are available online. If they are open, just do it there. It only takes a few minutes.

At the Pearson airport you will also see a lot of banking kiosks and you can even get an account opened, if you know which bank you would chose and have made up your mind.

It's a simple process and during this time you will be handed over a lot of written material explaining things to you. You will hear welcome to Canada a lot of times.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Hope this helps!

Dear Legalfalcon,

Firstly, I would like to appreciate your time and help for everyone.

I am in a bit of dilemma regarding my file.

My AOR is 10-02-2016
Med's passed : 06-05-2016
BG status: "Not needed at this time" never changed since my app submission
I haven't applied for GCMS so far and would like to apply for one when I reach 5 months mark but I remember you telling applying GCMS would serves as a reminder to agent to resume working on our file if at all it's got stuck up anywhere. My question is I Haven't paid RPRF upfront. I want to pay it now and upload payment confirmation receipt via CSE does it help reminding agent to resume work on my file.

Thanks in advance

When you order the GCMS notes an agent has to look into your file before it is released to you to ensure that they are not releasing any confidential information. So when the agent has your file open and if there is something that just has to be updated, like the medical clearance, security, criminality he will do it and thus help your file move. If there is nothing pending, the agent just reviews the file and then it is sent to you. It's not a hard and fast rule that ordering the GCMS will move your file.

As regards your BGC status, do not be much concerned about it. Some applicants see it change one, some more than once and some not at all. There is no specific reason why it changes and why it does not so I won't be much concerned about it. Instead of waiting until the 5th months, you should order GCMS notes at the end of the third month which would help you figure out where your file is.

As regards paying the RPRF, you can do it now, but if you wait until it is asked, that is better since that is another indication that your filed has moved ahead. This is something that you will need to take a call on.

I hope I answered your questions. If you may have any further questions, feel free to ask.

Happy to help!

Thank you very much.

I am having a thought of paying RPRF and then ordering GCMS just to have confirmation of RPRF status "received" reflecting in GCMS notes.

Hi @legalfalcon,

I am currently building out my EE profile (FSW) and only part left is work experience/NOC part (which seems to be the most critical to avoid misrepresentation). Per CIC calculator estimates, i believe my score would be around 481 (hopefully).

Based on what you mentioned above and others have posted in various threads, i have listed my understanding below, and wanted your guidance in case i am going about this the wrong way / have misunderstood anything / missed anything important etc.
Just want to take care to avoid any unintended misrepresentation/ineligibility etc. while submitting my EE profile, to ensure i can accept the earliest chance at an ITA that i get.

My work experience (single employer/company) :
>> 2.96 years(1081 calendar days) under NOC 1221 (Project coordinator / PMO analyst) under skill type B.
>> Post - promotion....... 2.64 years(962 calendar days & counting....i.e. current job) under NOC 0213 (Project Manager) under skill type 0.

Based on above work experience, below is how i planned to proceed with EE profile :
1. I will first ensure i can acquire the proof of experience letter with job duties listed correctly from my employer.
2. Once acquired the letter, send an email to CIC with the duties in the letter to confirm that, their evaluation of my NOC matches what i have listed above (i believe this is recommended to do even if 99% sure, based on previous threads/posts i went through a few months back - can't find the link now).
4. One has to choose a primary NOC for their profile, so i can choose the 0213 (skill type 0) as per my current position as primary. Per my understanding, for EE FSW, the actual NOC does not really impact my actual CRS score and also does not impact PR processing time-frame / decision etc.... - is this correct ?
5. However, i need to make sure i still have the initially required 67/100 points for EE FSW and based on above experience, i believe i would get 11 points for the experience factor if i use 0213 as my primary NOC (i.e. 2 to 3 yrs.). Is this correct ? ..... actually either NOC would still give me 11 points which would keep me over 67/100.
6. Wait till CIC confirms the NOCs to be correct, in an email reply - only then submit my EE profile.

Appreciate thoughts/inputs on this as it is the one part that i am slightly confused about as there are many considerations to take in account.

Thanks !
