If you have an open work permit, you can work anywhere, within or outside Canada.

Statutory questions contain information pertaining to medical, security and BGC. They will be used for different stages. Usually these questions are used for pre-assesment of an application early in the processing.

Hi @legalfalcon My eCOPR was just approved and I have a trip planned to the US next week for 3 days (critical work trip). While I know land crossing is the safest, if I made it onto the flight (AC usually checks me in automatically without seeing any agents, I was a work visa holders for 2 years and expiry is in 1 year) - would I be ok to enter at the border with CBSA? Or would there be any consequences like my PR application be red flagged?

I am the primary applicant who applied in the CEC class (inland) and currently reside in Canada on a work permit with my dependent child. My husband is the dependent applicant and he lives in the USA.

I received letter that has my name(Primary applicant)and my Canada address. It instructs to submit my passport and/or dependent passports to VAC New York.


I have not received the email commonly referred to as (portal email 1). I was expecting that my child and I would receive an email to confirm if we are in Canada as we are the inland applicants. And my spouse will get a passport request letter.

Can you please guide me on what needs to be done?

Option 1

Do I need to travel outside Canada and submit my passport along with my child and husband's passport to VAC New York? I am fine to travel outside Canada but I want to make sure that I can get a COPR and PR visa even though I applied as a CEC (inland)

Option 2
My husband who is a dependent applicant has to send his passport only to VAC New York and I will be getting emails 1 and 2 (portal invite) to confirm I am in Canada. And then I can apply for ECOPR for me and my daughter as we are residing in Canada

Hi @legalfalcon I'm in need of some advice. I'm an inland applicant for PR which is under security screening at the moment. A couple of months ago I had to leave Canada due to a family emergency and during that time I ran out of status.

Now, assuming I get Portal 1, what do I do? I don't currently have a way to come to Canada to accept it.

Can I request a file transfer to my local visa office or do I need to get a visitor visa to travel to Canada?

Would really appreciate any input you've regarding this. Thanks!

while filling the express entry builder under education session it is asking about the education activity. My bachelors degree session was 2013-2017. Classes started on December 2013 and ended in October 2017. But my exams were held in March-April 2018. What should I include as the end date of my education activity for this education.
Degree and transcript was issued late as I applied for the degree few months later due to some personal circumstances. And the degree and transcript had some 6-7 months gap from my final exams dates. Initially while submitting profile I added October 2017. Now some fellows are saying it should b exam date. Kindly guide me with this.

I submitted my application and under personal activities I forgot to mention one employment for which I am not claiming points.
I have no gaps in personal history or 10 years. But my two jobs were overlapping. For example I working in different organizations one in the morning and in the evening with another of which I am claiming my points.

I have my PGWP valid until Feb 2024, but at the same time, my BOWP is in progress. Can I travel to the USA and come back using my PGWP during Christmas?
Once I am back, can I still work under the condition of my PGWP (sorry, I am confused about this with the maintained status? I believe I am not under maintained status as my PGWP is still valid when I will be back in Canada. I would like to make sure I am ok to travel)

There is no specific time frame within which security screening is concluded. For some, it can take over a year.

I received my AOR on April 18, 2023. In the application status tracker, background verification changed to complete on June 8, 2023. However, on September 28th, it reverted back to in progress. My CIC Account status hasn't been updated since biometrics completion with eligibility in review and background check in process. I sent a webform since it had been 7 months and received this answer on November 27th:


"We verified the information you provided and can confirm that your permanent residence application is still in process.
At this time, all required documents and information have been received by the responsible office.

If an application is complex, it may take IRCC longer to process it. It will also take longer to process it if we need you to submit extra documents.

Rest assured that we understand how important this process is for you and we are making all the necessary efforts to finalize your application as soon as possible. We will inform you once a decision is reached or if additional information is needed."

As of now my application is still in progress. In your opinion is there cause for concern? Should I apply for GCMS notes?

Yes, if you have a valid Canadian visa to re-enter.
