@legalfalcon Sir, I ordered my GCMS notes and there is no update on my file since 2020 when i submitted my application. Medicals are expired and complete silence from ircc. I thought of going for Upfront medical but few say it is good to go as ircc will pick your application faster whereas few say it is not advisable as ircc wont consider it. I am completely confused and frustated at the same time as i am fed up of waiting.
Please suggest should i go for upfront medicals or not?

Ideally, you should inform IRCC via webform. At the same time, you can either get the PCC corrected or get a new one and submit it visa web form along with the explanation.

In the larger scheme of things, this will not matter as long as you explain it and point the error.
Thank you so much!

Hi @legalfalcon
I just got my COPR, but the city of landing on it is Ottawa while we plan to land in Toronto. We're FSW-O applicants. Will this cause any issues?

@MoeD congrats on the PPR - did IRCC request any ADR or medical request before issuing the PPR? My case has also been delayed a lot so was wondering what happened in your case.

Dear @legalfalcon ,
I am very grateful for your insightful replies and comments within this forum and your FB group!
I am happy to share that I received RFV email today, however, there are a few things that I need to clarify before I move next steps, and I would really appreciate it if you could share your expertise.
My address has been changed recently, but I have not informed IRCC about it. If I send webfrom request with my new updated address, will it cancel my current COPR and they would need to send a new one?
Also, if I have a valid UAE work visa and it is not being canceled when I land in Canada, will it have any issues at the Canadian borders?

Thank you very much!

If you are still in the same country, there is no need to update your address now.

When you land in Canada, all visas that you have will remain valid. Your PR status has no bearing on other visas/

Hi @legalfalcon. I have a serious question regarding moving out of the province that chose me as an immigrant for the purpose of education. I haven't found cases online that are similar to mine after days of research.

My story is as follows:

I have just become a permanent resident in January 2022 through the Quebec Skilled Worker program - the Quebec equivalence (I guess) of PNPs. Since day 1 I arrived in Canada, I have been residing in the province of Quebec, until now.

Recently, I've received a Ph.D. offer from an Ontario university. School begins this September. This is one of the top-notch schools in my field, so I am tempted to do my Ph.D. there - the university that offered me a place is strictly better than any Quebec university. Although I have applied to a Quebec uni too (which I am waiting for to get a decision), you know it's natural for anyone to prefer a better institution when it comes to education. They have got way better placement records, faculty members, and so on compared to the one in Quebec.

But then the problem comes: if I decided to do it in Ontario, it would mean that I could have left the province that "nominated" me for permanent residence, in which case I might be violating the initial "intent to reside in Quebec" even though PRs benefit from the freedom of mobility bestowed by the Charter.

What I can tell you is that I have every intention to return to Quebec after my Ph.D. In fact, I am planning to do my Ph.D. so that I can get a university teaching position in a smaller university or college in Quebec. I originally didn't want to do it because I wanted to work after this many years of studies, but then the pandemic hit, and other factors also changed my mind. My common-law partner is doing her Ph.D. in Quebec and will not leave. I am also currently taking French courses offered by the QC government to better integrate myself into Quebec's society.

I have not yet moved out and will not before the coming August.
So my questions are:

1. When I make my citizenship application in 2 years' time, can education be a valid justification for me to be absent from Quebec for a limited period of time? Especially given that a). schools outside of QC are better in many ways in my field, and in case b). I don't get admitted by the QC university I applied to?

2. Assuming I don't care about renewing my PR card 5 years from now (since I won't be traveling at all out of Canada): if I just did my Ph.D. there and moved back to QC after that, would I get into trouble applying for citizenship directly only at that point?

Thank you so much for your attention.
