First of all, thanks for all the help and support that you are providing here for everyone.
I have a question and wondering if you could help me with that.
I applied for PR in January, and have not heard anything since then. Everything looks fine in my notes though. I have recently received an offer for an internship. I am a graduate student, currently on study permit. They want me to start July 1st!
Now the question is, what if I don't hear from IRCC by then? :-[ Could I use this situation to raise a CSE? I have heard that sometimes raising a CSE might accelerate the process!
Looking forward to your advice.

Raised query with NOC team CIC to confirm my NOC and they reverted by NOC code 1122 (Professional occupations in business management consulting)
But I have selected 2171 as NOC code and got SINP nomination and now BG changed to not needed this time after submitting schedule A on 7th Jun 2016. NOC 1122 is not at all matching with my roles and responsibilities and it is totally different .

Pasting both my current roles & responsibilities and job description of 1122 (Professional occupations in business management consulting) as per the http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC site. What to do please suggest. Please help.

Management consultants perform some or all of the following duties:Analyze and provide advice on the managerial methods and organization of a public or private sector establishment Conduct research to determine efficiency and effectiveness of managerial policies and programs.Conduct assessments and propose improvements to methods, systems and procedures in areas such as operations, human resources, records management and communications.Conduct quality audits and develop quality management and quality assurance standards for ISO (International Organization for Standardization) registration.Plan the reorganization of the operations of an establishment. May supervise contracted researchers or clerical staff.


That is totally different and I doubt they suggested correct NOC . Some of my friend suggested just to wait and do nothing.... What to do please help ???

I am copying my questions related to landing and first days in Canada here with the hope that you can help with some of them

1. I have read that it is recommended to bring medical records, dental records with me. Are these really required?

Recommended, yes. You are "moving" to a new country and so if you have health problems or if your existing health issues get worse, the doctor will find it easy to treat you if he sees your medical history.

2. Another document is "Reference letters from previous and current employers" Can I bring what I already have for my express entry application? Or do I need to get up-to-date ones?

If you can get fresh letters issued, I would suggest you to do that!

3. I am landing with my dependant (my wife). Is reporting for more than C$10,000 requirement for each person? Can we presumable bring 9,000 each without having to report?

Carrying more than CAD 10,000 is not a crime. You can carry a a million CAD if you can show the source of those funds. The problem is when you carry more than CAD 10,000 but don't declare it. Make the best use of this opportunity - whatever you carry the first time you land is tax-free.

Just declare whatever you carry to be on the safer side.


4. Do I need to bring police certificates?

No - PCs are not required. If you come across the need to get one in the future, you can get always get it at the embassy.

5. We are planning to live in Toronto. Do we need to get a International Driver's License?

Yes - Get your driver's license AND the international driver's license (IDL, by itself, doesn't have any value - Usually, it is only a translation of your original driving license).

Also, get a letter from your transport authority that issued you the license stating the number of hours of driving/riding experience that you have. DLs from certain countries can be exchanged for a full G Ontario DL. For others, there are various levels - G1, G2, G.

6. I have also read that in Ontario, we won't be covered for health for around 3 months. Therefore, we were planning to get insurance for this period. Are we supposed to get "travel insurance"?

The OHIP website says this -

Ontario residents are eligible for provincially funded health coverage (OHIP). Generally, to be eligible for Ontario health coverage you must :

be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or among one of the newcomer to Canada groups who are eligible for OHIP as set out in Ontario’s Health Insurance Act ; and
be physically present in Ontario for 153 days in any 12-month period; and
be physically present in Ontario for at least 153 days of the first 183 days immediately after establishing residency in the province; and
make your primary place of residence in Ontario.

Do we have to show proof of funds again if we are entering Canada via PR card (2nd entry) assuming that, we have done a short landing during 1st entry (i.e. as landed immigrant and POF already shown this time) and the PR card was delivered to our home country from our friends/relatives in Canada

 Schedule A: A separate and newly completed Schedule A Background Declaration form (IMM 5669) bearing an original signature.

I have a question regarding the first document. What is that actually?

And regarding the schedule A, do I have to print it out, fill in, sign and scan the copy?

1. I am visiting by brother in Chicago in sep, can i drive to toronto and get my landing procedure done at the port of entry? Or do i have to take a flight ?

2. I am also getting married in Sep. What is the quickest way to get my wife to be's PR/Visa processed ? And how do i get it done ? any guidlines ? I read somewhere if i get married after COPR and before landing it takes 1 month for the spouse to get her PR/Visa.

1) You can get the visa for your spouse easily before you land and activate your PR status. You can raise a CSE and ask them to add the dependent to the application. You would have to show extra funds. This is a fairly straightforward process. You guys can "land" together once she gets her visa (provided your COPR is valid until then).

2) You can apply for her PR visa through spousal sponsorship. This is a relatively lengthy and complex process. Takes around 2 years from what I hear.

I strongly recommend that you consider going for option 1.

No, I understand that what the NOC team says is probably correct but then it is generally not okay to send them a fresh reference letter at this point in time. If the province had nominated you under a certain NOC, it could mean that they were satisfied that your roles and responsibilities match the NOC that you have chosen (and hence the odds are that the CIC officer would find your roles and responsibilities in-line with your NOC). So, I recommend you not to submit anything now.

I got married and after that i submit all the documents of spouse. Very next day i got a letter (same as PPR) that pay your fees and submit the passports and my COPR. I submitted the same around 15 days ago and till then there is no reply from there side. Also in my CIC account , the status ha s been changed to "Review in progress". I have mailed the new delhi embassy but have not received any revert. Request you to please help me out what to do.

In the last round of invitation, I received ITA. my score is 483. CIC asked me to apply under CEC category.

I already discussed with you. Sorry for giving the details again. I thought it will help u understand in a better way.

- I received degree completion letter from University on 23-Feb-2015
- I applied for the post-graduate work permit (PGWP) online on 24-Feb-2015
- My study permit was valid till 31-March-2015. From 1-April-2015, I was on implied status till 7-May-2015
- But the date issue of PGWP is on 8-May-2015
- I received ITA on 1-June-2016

Scenario1:
Job1 : Company A
Status: Part time
Duration : 1-Mar-2015 to 08-Aug-2015 (PGWP issued on 8-May-2015)
Total weeks: 23 weeks (I have been told that 18hrs/30hrs=0.6, 23 weeks*0.6= 13.8 full-time weeks)
Hours/week : 18 hrs
Total hours : 23weeks*18hrs=414hrs

Note: 09-Aug-2015 to 16-Aug-2016, I didn't work.

Job2: Company B
Status : Full time
Duration : 17-Aug-2015 to 1-June-2016 (I received ITA on 1-June-2016)
Total weeks : 41 full-time weeks and 3 days
Hours/week : 37.5
Total hours : 41.3 weeks*30hrs=1239hrs

Job1 (13.8 full-time weeks) + Job2 (41 full-time weeks) = Total (54.8 full-time weeks and 1653hrs), In this case, I completed 1 year.

Scenario2:
Job1 : Company A
Status: Part time
Duration : 8-May-2015 to 08-Aug-2015 (Start date as per PGWP issue date instead of actual job start date which is on 1-Mar-2015)
Total weeks: 13 weeks and 1 day (I have been told that 18hrs/30hrs=0.6, 13weeks*0.6= 8 full-time weeks)
Hours/week : 18 hrs
Total hours : 13weeks*18hrs=234hrs

Note: 09-Aug-2015 to 16-Aug-2016, I didn't work.

Job2: Company B
Status : Full time

Job1 (8 full-time weeks) + Job2 (41 full-time weeks) = Total (49 full-time weeks and 1473 hrs). As per sceanrio2, I require 3 more full-time weeks. Then I will complete my 1 year only on 20-June-2016.

When do I complete my 1 year of Canadian work experience?

Can I accept the ITA which I received on 1-June-2016 or not?

I explained my above scenario to a lawyer and she told me that she can only give legal opinion on it. If I am not full-time student and also I am working legally (i.e. with a valid study permit and also applied for the post-graduate work permit) then my experience (in the period of 25-Feb-2015 to 7-May-2015) should be eligible for 1 year of Canadian work experience.
