Hi Asivad expecting your comments/suggestions please,
While preparing for PR application, I got following doubts regarding entry of personal history, work history and the related documents:
1. Birth Certificate: We do not have birth certificates for me and spouse. Affidavit on stamp paper & SSC certificate showing DoB will do?
For Child: Original birth certificate issued by municipal corporation in other language with translation copy of authorized translator.
2. Marriage Certificate: Original marriage certificate by registrar is in other language. Copy by authorized translator and marriage affidavit prepared.
3. Relatives in Canada: My spouse has elder brother in Canada. Whether spouse brother can be included?
4. Previous application to CIC: Whether tourist visa application and its number can be included in this?
5. Proof of Funds: Scanned copy of Bank FD (5 months old & 4 months old), Saving Bank Account Statement & Letter from Branch Manager for same prepared. Salary statement, Loan liability for Home loan, Credit card statement will be also required?
6. Police clearance certificate: Certificate obtained from Passport Seva Kendra as well as SP office. In address history & personal history, the addresses were asked for last 10 years. Last ten years we stayed in two different states. Certificates issued from Passport Office & SP will be sufficient? Or other places also required? Canada visit for 2.5 months will require police clearance?
7. Education History: All certificates and mark sheets scanned copy with WES credential report.
8. Work history: Work experience letter from present office (11 years) with all details, payslips for 3 months, appointment, promotion, transfer, relieve orders enclosed. Previous two employment experience letter in prescribed format not available. Shall I remove those from PR application as it was asked only for last 10 years.
9. Legal name change documents: It is required for spouse as the surname changes after marriage. Standard affidavit is prepared. will is useful?
10.Any other supporting documents: This was asked by CIC in their checklist what can be added pl suggest.
Thanks a lot in advance for your kind help.

Birth certificates not required for PA/spouse.

2. Marriage Certificate: Original marriage certificate by registrar is in other language. Copy by authorized translator and marriage affidavit prepared.

3. Relatives in Canada: My spouse has elder brother in Canada. Whether spouse brother can be included?

Yes. Gives you 5 points on FSW grid, no points under CRS.

4. Previous application to CIC: Whether tourist visa application and its number can be included in this?

If you have a UCI, mention that. No other details required.

5. Proof of Funds: Scanned copy of Bank FD (5 months old & 4 months old), Saving Bank Account Statement & Letter from Branch Manager for same prepared. Salary statement, Loan liability for Home loan, Credit card statement will be also required?

Loan liabilities need not be mentioned to CIC unless a loan was taken for POF purposes. In such a case, CIC will refuse the application. Salary statement not needed.

Submit the PCC obtained from passport authorities - that will suffice for your stay in that country. No police clearance needed for 2.5 month visit.

7. Education History: All certificates and mark sheets scanned copy with WES credential report.

8. Work history: Work experience letter from present office (11 years) with all details, payslips for 3 months, appointment, promotion, transfer, relieve orders enclosed. Remove those from PR application.

Yes.

Thank you very much Asivad.

Even I am thinking to choose between company 2 and 3. With company 2, I have to rely on co-workers affidavit for duties and my coworker worked with me for around 1 year out of 18 months. Also, I was for maternity leave for 2 months in this job. So , I am thinking more about company 3 at the moment (this is old job though).

Also, I have one more query. My husband did not have sur name in his passport. So, he recently had new passport with surname. He submitted newspaper ads and affidavit at passport office for name change as per regional pas sport office guidelines. In case if we get ITA in future, what we need to upload for legal name change or we don't need to do anything?

He will be required to provide legal change of name document if he answers 'Yes' to the question 'Have you used any other name?'. If he answers 'No' to that question, he won't be prompted for any document.

Thanks & regards

Hi Asivad,

Please help me here.
I got an ITA in the last draw.
I have some of my documents (BA and MS certificates and transcripts) translated by an official translator (on official letterhead, with address and contact, and stamped,..) back home. Under each translation there is a sentence saying "True translation certified".
Does this suffice? Or should I have a certified translator in Canada translate them again?

In other words, what does CIC mean by a certified translator?!

Thanks Asivad,

His name was Ajay only without surname and now in new passport its Ajay Gill. so , only surname added. So, we dont know whether we need to say yes or no to question "Have you used any other name?. All his education documents have full name ---Ajay gill. It is just the surname added now in passport.

So, what should we do according to you? If we say yes what documents are required? We do not have any document anyway. For adding surname in passport, my husband submitted newspaper ads of name change and sworn affidavit only with old passport. Now we can provide CIC new passport with full name, affidavit, newspaper ads, driving license with new name.

Please guide us through.

Regards
Answer 'No' to that question. His name on the valid passport matches the name on all other documents so there is nothing to be explained here.

Either get those translations notarized or get the documents translated again by a certified translator in Canada.

Hi,

We are preparing our PR application and have a few doubts.

1. Other names that you may have - There are 3 questions here.

a. In some of the college certificates, the mothers name appears on the certificate. Does this qualify as an other name you may have. Do we need to add this to the list of Other names you may have.

b. Now if the candidates name is Ram Shankar and some documents have Ram shankar and some have Rama shankar, does this pose as a problem? The Passport has Rama shankar and so does the EE application. Do we need to add Ram shankar as an other name in the list ? Bit confused about this.

c. Also in a couple of certificates the name appears as Shankar Rama, does this also qualify as an other name ?

2. Addresses of all the places you have lived in the last 10 years - Do we need to give a list of all places including rented accomodation/ hostel names/ all addresses we have lived in across cities ?

3. Which state/ city do you intend to reside in ? - Do they award the PR basis the city/ region we give them ?

Currently we are confused between 2-3 cities and have given toronto to be on a safer side. is that OK?

4. How much money will you bring in ? - We are 2 of us and had initially mentioned over 22K CAD in the EE application whereas the CIC website mentions 15K CAD for 2 people, can we change this to 15K CAD now in the PR application ?

Will we have to show POF for 15K or 20K ?

5. 10 Years Personal History - Is it OK to have a 1-2 month gap in the 10 years personal history?

6. Proof of Funds - Can we show a PF statement & a gift deed from fathers & cousins ?

Asivad Anac ... But we do translation by certified translators not from just expert translators. Certified that means they are authorized by law and strictly certified to do translation neatly, correctly and officially. I feel from CIC links you just mentioned that affidavit or embassy officials attestation is just needed for translation from normal guys whose English is expert.

Please clear my doubts in this crucial concern ???

Thank you

Affidavit isn't required ONLY if the translator is certified and recognized by a Canadian federal or provincial authority. For any translator based outside Canada, you will have to get the translation notarized else CIC will not accept that document.

Submitting an application without spouse's passport is extremely risky, IMO. You should have declined the ITA and waited until she got her passport. A national ID card is accepted (or at least that is what the website says) but you need to give them an exceptionally good reason as to why you cannot submit the passport (I am not sure if my spouse does not have the passport; It will take time to get it will budge. Other members can help you with an opinion too and if you decide to proceed with a national ID card, you need a well written, extremely polite letter that explains your situation.

2- i'm submitting a gift deed that my father gave me the money, in my country, i can make the gift deed legalised in the municipality by a civil state officier (he will put a stamp and a signature on the document) is it suffisant ?

This should work.

Just make sure you get the translated papers notarized. Upload both the original document and the translated version.

Well, looks like that is the only option you have. The proof that your spouse has applied for a passport along with a convincing letter of explanation *might* do the trick.

Once she gets her passport, you can raise a CSE and submit the copies of her passport.
