Hi Asivad,

Few Indian IT companies have the following system .. The designation they give to employees doesnot match the actual roles and responsibilities in day to day activities .. For example your designation can be Software Engineer (noc 2173 , by designation name) , but in daya to day , they will be doing programming - which is actually 2174 ...

The designation in few IT companies are giving just based on the no.of years you worked and for Salary purpose .It doesnot match with the daily job you do ...

Will CIC understand this, if we submit an LOE - telling them "Designation is given for the purpose of fixing the salary scale and it wont match the daily roles and responsibilities "
They understand it already. NOC is a framework designed by HR Canada based on their understanding of organizations and HR. It need not match with the real World and there is no pressure on any organization to tweak their HR practices so that they look more like the HR Canada framework.

The point I'm trying to make here is that only your job responsibilities matter while your job title doesn't. You can be "Senior Vice President - Technology Enhancements" but if your responsibilities match NOC 2174, you'll be credited with that NOC and none other.

Hi Asivad,
I thank you for the good work you've been doing all this while. I have a twisted querry regarding my EE profile. After my professional study in dentistry I did MBA in India which wasn't recognized as master degree by WES but instead a bachelor program of four years. I have more than a year of experience with that and claimed points under the master degree. But for the educational part I chose "Two or more degrees or diplomas with one being above...." category. Recently I was suggested by someone that I can get those extra six points to pass the 450 barrier(waiting at 449) by chosing professional degree in the education tab, since my ECA reads "5 years of professional study in dentistry and four years of bachelor degree". It would be very kind of you if you can help me in this matter. Thank you
P. S-My experience in dentistry is less than a year as of now.

Of course you can do that and you should update your EE profile. Dentistry is an entry-to-practice profession which is treated equivalent to Masters degree in the CRS/FSW scheme of things.

Experience has nothing to do with it. That is legitimate education and you get those points for your educational credentials based on the ECA report.

Dear Asivad,

Good day to you. I received CIC- ITA via PNP last sept. 8, as I am gathering my documents I have few questions and doubts which i am not really certain of what to do. I've asked several people in the forum and some of them told me to ask you since you guided applicants on whatever confusions they have.. And here it is;

1. I had applied to Nova Scotia Nominee Program-Demand EE early this year and reached the minimum required points of 67 which they asked for. Sometime in june I received AOR with file number from Nova Scotia. And by july I received a letter from Nominee officer that they refused my application for the reason that I have not met the 67points as per new guidelines which take effect in june. And they told me that no appeal will be considered, however they are glad to accept if will submit a new application in line with the guidelines at that moment. By August, luckily i received nomination from PEI and CIC ita on sept. 8. My question is: Should I say YES or NO on the statutory question of " Have you ever been refused refugee status, an immigrant or permanent resident visa (including CSQ or application to Provincial Nominee Program) or visitor visa to canada or any other country?"
There are few people told me to say NO, as it will generate a UCI number once I say YES. But then they are not certain and I am afraid of what I read about rejections regarding this matter.

2. Secondly, I am the principal applicant and I am not claiming points for my spouse's work experience. I believe that I still have to upload his work experiences document as shown in my document checklist generated after filing online forms..My spouse worked in the bank from 2001 to 2014 with different designations. The problem is, the bank that he was working with has been closed just last year(2014) and all his supporting documents such as payslips, income tax return, appointment letters and all others was left inside that bank. And no one is allowed to open or get anything from that bank as it is now under receivership and investigation as mandated by the agency in-charge. And there bank manager is nowhere to be found. My query is, what other supporting documents or proof of his work history can I possibly attach aside from what I had mentioned earlier that was left in the bank?

I fervently hope that you can shade some light on my questions.. Thank you ahead.

If you answer Yes, you will be prompted for UCI. If you don't have UCI, answer No. You can explain this in the LOE section - that you were refused by NS and you answered No because you were not allotted UCI.

2. Secondly, I am the principal applicant and I am not claiming points for my spouse's work experience. I believe that I still have to upload his work experiences document as shown in my document checklist generated after filing online forms..My spouse worked in the bank from 2001 to 2014 with different designations. Remove their entire work experience OR attach whatever document you have for that experience. Either way, the officer is going to assign you zero points for that section if the experience was acquired entirely outside Canada. If it was acquired outside Canada, that work experience is completely irrelevant to your PR application.

I fervently hope that you can shade some light on my questions.. Thank you ahead.

Hi Asivad,
sorry to disturb you again!

Can you please suggest anything about following matter:

1. I work on ship. All of my voyages are stored in our government shipping office website. And anybody can check it to verify my entire career and work history. This is provided specially for potential employer to check the previous history. So it is possible to check my entire 12 years sea career with individual ship's name, but company name is not shown.Though there are some minor spelling mistakes in ship's name and wrong date in engagement and discharge date with one/two day error, Should I provide this link with supporting documents, as it will be the most authentic source to verify the experience because the source is from government website ?

2. One of the companies I served have online company operation manual. For that company, my job responsibilities can be checked from online company operation manual where responsibility of each rank is mentioned in detail. I have the longest experience in this company. Should I provide a link for this? Because the reference letter is very brief. Will the information obtained from online have any value or consideration ?

3. My biggest doubt still is about one year continuous employment. Though I have about 12 years of experience, I never worked continuously for 12 months. I have worked for different companies and for some company, employment duration was more than 2 calendar years. But because of job nature, I worked for 4/5 months on ship then again stay in vacation for 3/4 months and again join ship and so on. For some company, I received salary in vacation also and for some company, salary was continued only on board. However, accumulated sea service or on board time for each company was more than 12 months. I have found some information in Operation Bulletin 173 issued on January 8, 2010, about the clarification of continuous work and break in employment. But unfortunately, this one is expired. I could not locate the amended one.

Do you know is there any updated version of OB173? or do you have any suggestion how should I explain my situation or am I at all eligible for FSW ? I searched many threads to clear my doubt. But still I am confused.

Thank you

Dear Asivad,

I have few queries regarding my case here. I have received ITA and am in the process of completing eAPR.

- I have ITA Received Status : YES. But PNP nomination: Not Yet. Is this fine? I haven't got any PNP
- In Personal Details:
  • Is it mandatory to provide my current employment details. I am using my past 3 years of experience to get points. Do I still need to provide my current employment details?
The problem is that my current employment is not from the same NOC. Will giving this information need employment certificate from present company?
In case I don't put any information for last 6 months will my application be rejected?

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Asivad, It's been six hours since i updated my profile and there has been no change to the points even after changing the educational tab. Is it possible that the system compares the professional degree with the relevant NOC or just that recent draw is keeping new changes on hold for a while? your take on this. Thank You
