A big thanks to all of you for helping me throughout this period from beginning to end. Got my PR today.

I went to Detroit for stamping purpose and it was done within no time. Submitted my passport @ 8:30 AM and got it back @ 10 :00 AM. It was pretty quick. Completed landing at Windsor border.

Once again a big thanks to all of you for answering my questions. God Bless You All and Good Luck to all whose applications are still under process.

Thank you.

I would like to ask one more favor from you...

Could you share how you add your spouse in the middle of the PR process?? How you did it, What are the additional documents/forms that you sent to them (and how) ... and any other do and don't according to your experience :)

Congratulations!

Hi,

When i applied first, i was single and then i got married in Feb. And then my wife faced some issues regarding her birth certificate, which delayed my application for a some time. This was the reason i added my spouse's name in the middle of PR process. The additional documents were, her birth certificate and her PCC and IMM5669E from her side. I refilled IMM5406E and added her name.

And then i sent all the documents to Ottawa by mail. I also attached a letter, explaining my situation(that why its delayed). After that my wife got her medical within a month.

At first, i didn't want to add my wife's name and will add her name after i got my PR cuz i thought it may delayed the process, but a big thanks to the members of this forum who advised me not to do so as it might result in refusal of application.

minta7, congrats!!

I had a question based on the timelines you mentioned.
Passport Req..: 19-09-2012
VISA ISSUED...: 02-10-2012
LANDED..........: 02-10-2012

When you got a request for passport, instead of sending your passport to a visa office for stamping the immigrant visa, you filled all required forms and you and the family took it to the consulate at Detroit and got it stamped on the same date. Is that right? I didn't know you could do that.

1. Did you have to take an appointment? What is the process?
2. What is the guarantee you would get the stamping on the same day?
3. You have to have a US visa to enter the US, right? I am assuming this is not a Canadian office right at the border.

Minta7, can you also specify what was request on the request for passport? What details need to be submitted and what forms are to be filled? Can you please post the steps required for visa after you get this letter?

Congratulations !!!
Wish you the best of luck.

Hi Seekr,

Here are your answers

1. Did you have to take an appointment? What is the process?

No, I didn't take any appointment. You just have to take the Passport, the Passport Request(This is must, Security won't let you in if you don't have it and also Consulate Official needs to see that letter), 2 pics with white background, A draft of 490$ with you and also write down your height and color of eyes on a blank paper with you. These are all the documents which you need. You can go there on Tuesdays and Thursdays

2. What is the guarantee you would get the stamping on the same day?

If everything is good then there is 100% guarantee that you will get your Passport Stamped on the same day. In worst case, they will return your passport and ask you to come back again. They wont keep your passport with them.

3. You have to have a US visa to enter the US, right? I am assuming this is not a Canadian office right at the border.

You have to have US visa, Its hardly 500 meters when you cross US border.

The subject says, Instructions for Visa Issuance.
No forms have to be filled. All they are asking is for a draft for 490$(RPRF fees), submission of passport, two pics and passport and also a sheet of paper with your height and color of eyes information. That's it.

the letter doesn't say that you can submit your passport directly to Detroit Office, But you can go there on any tuesday or thursday if you want your passport same day.
