Hi, A colleague of mine just receive a letter of refusal for his wife's TRV application. The reason were generic ones. My friend is working under a WP (2 yrs) and under Skilled Level B of the NOC. He has been working for the last 5 months (finish his probationary period of 3 mos) and have substantial amount of funds in the bank. Is there any other recourse like appeal available after being refused? Would it help if the wife applied for a SOWP as well as TRV the next time around?

The reason her TRV was refused was very likely not enough evidence that she will return. She will have to find some better ties to her homeland and emphasize that she wants to join her husband while he is in Canada and that they will both return when his visa expires.

The husband and wife (2 kids used to live legally(work) in the Middle East for many years before the husband transferred to Canada. Isn't this a clear evidence that the wife has no intention of illegally overstaying her visa?

Will a letter from the husband's company help in any way to assure CIC of their true intention of living together while the husband is on work permit?

Hi Loneflyer,

I've read some threads about this problem - try the search function for "Visitor Visa denied" or similar phrases.

It seems that CIC is denying visitor visa and TRV's if you can't show enough ties in your home country. Many people are handing in:

- pictures from their family at home (different occasions) to show they have a large family at home
- deeds showing they own property (land or real estate) in their home country
- bank statements showing they have a substantial financial background at home
- sometimes it helps to write a statement that you are planning to go back since you are the only child caring for your elder parents
- ...

I know this sounds really strange but obviously one has to be quite creative to show the ties back home.

Good luck for your colleague!
