Hello guys! I just want to ask...

A friend of mine was layoff from work but her work permit is still valid until 2016. Is she still allowed to stay here in Canada even if she was layoff? She's currently looking for a job.

What will happen with her Alberta Healthcard theN? will it still be valid ? thanks!

She can stay until her work permit expires. Is it an open or closed one? If closed, she need a new LMIA for any new job.

I *think* her healthcare remains valid, but I'd double check, if I were her.

Health card part is fine too. But if she leaves Canada, is getting back in and tells CBSA that she is no longer employed she might have issues getting in.

Otherwise, every thing is valid till the expiry of her work permit.

Being out of work and having paid taxes earlier, depending upon the province she is in, she might even qualify for some insurance benefits which could get bare minimum survival money till she actually can find a job (LMIA based one if she was on a closed work permit)
