Yes - your employer needs to obtain a new LMIA and then you need to obtain a new work permit before you can start the new job.

is it difficult to obtain a LMIA for this? i have 1 year and 1 month left in my contract, when can we start to apply for the new LMIA? Can I start working as a supervisor once application is submitted? or do i have to wait for the result?

Thanks a lot!!

LMIAs can be difficult to get these days.

Your employer can apply for the new LMIA whenever they want to.

NO. If you work as a supervisor on your current work permit, you will be working illegally. You must wait for the LMIA to be approved AND then for a new work permit to be approved.

Backing up what canuck_in_uk said. You can't start working in your new role until you have your new work permit. If you start early you'll be working illegally and could put your new work permit in jeopardy.

Have you actually done ANY research yourself on this or even looked at the LMIA basics?

No, you cannot do the LMIA application yourself. Your employer must complete the application and pay for it. They will need to advertise the position through multiple sources for at least 4 weeks and show that they couldn't find a Canadian citizen/PR for the job.

Hi again Scylla,

I could not find the NOC code for stewarding/dishwasher supervisor job. The closest i can find is supervisor, cleaner. Is that the right one? NOC code 6315. if it's not the right code, can someone help me find the correct code for a stewarding/dishwasher supervisor? thanks in advance!!
