TFW Expires July 1 2015 Open work permit can it extend this?

Hello , we are sending the in canada family class sponsor . I'm a Canadian citizen , and my partner is American. He has been here since 2010 on a tfw permit and his 4 years expires in July of 2015 .. My question is we sent in for pr and open work permit at the same time.. If he gerts his open work permit does that mean he doesn't have to leave in July of 2015 he can work with the open work permit while waiting for the pr ?

It is strongly advised that an American apply outland, not inland. Average time for an outland app through Ottawa is around 10 months, with many finishing much faster than that. One recent applicant was just approved in 5 months.
