Perhaps somebody can help me:

I got the update on ecas that I have been invited for the test on the 27th of July. The note also said that the invitation was send via mail and I should contact them should I not have received the mail.

Now in the email notification it says: this is the note you should bring to the test.

I know from experience that if I contact them via web form it takes weeks for them to respond.

I intend to go to the test just with a printout of the email plus the email attachments.

I assume this is no problem?

Thanks for clarification
Stef.

You should be OK. Maybe call IRCC just to double check and so that there is record of the call somewhere.

I received the regular mail via canada post, no ecas update or email. I guess nothing is consistent, it depends on the local processing office

For me, ECAS was updated that they had started processing my application and sent my Discover Canada package. I received no email nor ANY mail. After waiting over a month, I called ... and after speaking to 2 people who told me "all is good" , I called a 3rd time and finally spoke to a super helpful gent who actually took time to look into my file.... They had entered my ADDRESS and EMAIL incorrectly. (I checked the photocopy of my application and all was good from my end!) .. so all my correspondence was going who knows where and I would have missed my test date notice had I listened to the first 2 people!

I would call to confirm. And keep calling until you get someone who is actually willing to help. I have found in the 20yrs I have been in Canada... with multiple renewals of Visas, PR cards and now citizenship applications... that if you keep calling, speak politely, eventually you will find a call agent that will actual go the extra mile to help.

It's worth your time... I don't think it's worth risking showing up to the test without something Immigration SPECIFICALLY requests you bring.

Good luck!

Well- my address is correct in Ecas and I do get the emails each time.
I will just print out my email and go with this one. Will let you know how it went.
Now...back to studying for the exam...

Yeah I know it's not the same situation... I was just trying to say how I feel like it's always best to call (and keep calling until you get an answer) rather than just assume "it'll be ok". Ugh - Immigration makes me so paranoid ... and apparently not very articulate - haha!

I also read your first post as you didn't get the attachments that are required to bring for the exam... so apparently I was waaaaaay out to lunch anyways.

As an aside - I checked the "email correspondence" box on my application and have only EVER received anything by mail. Not one email. So yeah .... it's a bit of a crap shoot.

Happy studying! :)

Thanks Layla.

I am rather the opposite. I do not phone them as sometimes they correctly just tell you it is not over the 12 months period, in other words why bother them.

Yup, I'm calling them every other week. They lost my PR application ( in 2014), waited four months ( to be polite, the processing time was 28 days for SA) , MP had to call and they magically 'found' the application they claimed they never received, dated the date 4 months prior that they received it on. Lost my son's citizenship paperwork last year for 6 months (website said to wait that long). Supposedly, a signature was missing and, get this, they didn't have an address to return it to me. Seriously, that's what the lady told me. You opened the envelope, which had a return address, read the application enough to see something was missing and there was an address. But somehow, you didn't have it. So I'm calling them and often. I'm not getting the runaround this time. I'm not leaving anything to chance. Hopefully, I'll be able to do it next year as a opposed to 2019 as I really don't want to deal with them anymore. I only hope they've improved over the past year.
