Test and Interview - Do they check all original copies?

For the test and interview, all the original documents are required according to the letter I received. Is it common practice for them to check all the original documents. The reason I ask is that I don't have the original copy of the degree and transcripts from the UK. And because my test and interview is so soon, if I ordered new copies, they would not arrive on time.

I do however, have some Canadian schooling, including a certificate that I got from a Canadian University.

Usually they do not look out for transcripts. The originals that they will be checking is passport, landing doc, PR card and OHIP card if that is your secondary id. IF you dont have one of these then please have an explanation. For transcripts if they ask let them know that the originals are not there and you can request the university to send them a copy directly.

I took a copy of my degree certificate from the UK when I did my test a couple of weeks ago, they never looked at it.

They just checked off the Certificate of Permanent Residence, had a quick look at my passports (current and expired), then went through the passport and ticked the dates off with the corresponding border report that they had. As the officer did this she just chatted about the weather and travelling then told me I was good to go.

fortmacresident, as a matter of interest, what kind of border report they had? The Cbsa exit history (that happens to people to order) or another thing?

I sent my degree certificate and marksheet copies with my application. During test i took all originals, but officer never looked into those. She just checked passports, landing paper, pr card and ID cards.

But be prepared with explanation as u never know if they ask for it.

Hello Fortmacresident,
Did you accept your employer's offer to transfer to the USA for work for 2 years? If yes, was your application impacted by this transfer?

Thanks for your inputs

My wife took all her original educational documents including degree/certificates/transcripts that she submitted with the application and they didn't ask for a single document in regards to her education and/or to prove the language abilities.

It really depends on the officer. During my test/interview, there were 4 officers, I noticed 2 of them checked and compared the the original documents with the photocopies one by one. While the other 2 officer didn't. My officer just checked my passports, landing paper and pr card.

Another interesting part.
The 2 'check everything' officers had less cases in hand than the other 2 officers. (6-8 cases vs >15 cases). But I'm not 100% sure about this, I didn't count.
