Hi all,
I'm planning to apply for citizenship and I noticed the current application processing times is 12 months.

In 12 months from now though, I might not be in Canada for a few months in a row. If I apply now and they approve my application and decide to call me in for the test and then the ceremony, do I have any say in the dates or can I can to reschedule if I'm abroad?

Thanks!

You are assigned a date without being asked. You can inform them of your vacation plans which they sometimes keep in mind when scheduling your dates, based on very anecdotal evidence. But I don't think they will take into account an absence of several months.

You can reschedule once (don't know the details/success rate of this, someone who did that would have to chime in) but that's your last shot, then.

It might be easier to travel to Canada for the test/ceremony than to reschedule it.

Thanks for your answer @spyfy !

Do you happen to know how much time there is on average in between the day when they communicate you the dates and the dates themselves (for both test and ceremony)? I mean, how early in advance do they let you know - are we talking weeks? Months?

Thanks!

You can look on the spreadsheets to see the averages but I think it's usually around 3 weeks depending on your location
