OK thank you. I have another question. In fact a I have a baby 4 months ago, do I have to state in the invitation letter that she is coming to see her grand son and to assist us.
Thank you once more

While you can mention in your Invitation Letter that your MIL is visiting to see her grandson.... writing something like she *will assist/help with/take care* of your baby/your wife.... may appear as intending to work illegally on a TRV.... even if it is unpaid. Do be careful with the words.

Her purpose of visit can be to meet and spend time with you/your wife/grandson + meet friends/relatives + sightseeing, etc

Hi
Before applying for my mother in law, for home ties, she used to have a small business but this year she did not renew her licence. Can I still mention that on her application?

I wouldn't mention the business she no longer has it. You don't want to risk a misrepresentation finding by CIC.

IMO.... and based on what you've written in another thread, your MIL's ties to her home country appear rather weak presently. You may want to either hold her visa application until she establishes stronger ties.... or else you may want to do a rethink on how to show her current ties as *strong ties*

Hi,
I will send her application the way it is right now, I know it little bit risky but if I hold on her application now even for 2 years it is not going to make any difference cos she is 53 year old and I don't see her now saying she is going to look for job. In my country ( in Africa), most of the women are house wife, most of the time they don't have anything on their name, everything is on husband`s name. Even the business she used to run was just a very small business and she closed because it went down. I will try my luck we never know.

So poor people will never have the chance to travel?

Hi,

It's not about being rich or poor to travel.... we've seen many cases of people getting TRVs even though their airfare/accommodation/expenses for visits were paid by their Canadian hosts.

For a TRV the applicant must prove strong ties in the home country to return to..... this could be family ties/business/property ownership or tenancy agreement/financial situation/volunteer work/other commitments and responsibilities in the home country, etc

All the best :)

Hi fellas, sorry to bother you again.
As you know I am applying for my MIL visa. The question I have is I scanned my bank statements and the size of the file is 7.89 MB. On the site they said the maximum size of a file should be 4 MB. I tried to compress the file but it gives me a size of 6.39 which is still bigger. I split the file in two and I have a size of 3.80 MB for one and the other one is 3 MB. I would like to know as well for those who made their application online, if there is a room for more files in case you have more documents to submit.
Thank you

@geger

Yes, the maximum size for attachments is 4 MB.

You can either scan the bank statement in low resolution.... or you could save the online bank statement as a PDF file (instead of scanning a paper print)
