Temporary worker permit extension?

Hello everyone so currently my girlfriend's sister has a open temporary work permit that expires in 2021. Due to family circumstances she doesn't have an option but to stay in her country of residency and hasn't been able to get work experience towards express entry points. My question is, is there anyway she can apply for an extension and how much time can she extend?

More information needed. Does she have a PGWP? IEC / working holiday visa? Something else?

If it's one of the first two, they cannot be extended. It's use it or lose it.

She holds a PGWP in that case. A PGWP cannot be extended.

If she wants to work in Canada longer, she will need to find an employer who is willing to give her a job offer and who is also willing and able to obtain an approved LMIA. If she can get these two things, she can then apply for a closed work permit tied to that specific employer.
