My posts are suggestive of the fact that my parents are the applicants and I have invited them to visit my family. I and my spouse are Canadian Citizens , well established professionals in our respective fields
Time line for my parents' TRV application is as under:

Date of submission of Application : May 10,2016 at VFS,Jalandhar
Application forwarded to CHC,Chandigarh: May 11,2016.
Present status: Under process.
Yes, whenever there is a change in status, I will make sure to update it in the forum.Seemingly,coming week shall be crucial in this regard.Let us see, how the wind blows.

Dear MSPjal and other in this group!

I am in Canada,now on work permit. I have applied for my parents Visitor visa from Chandigarh VFS on 5th May , file reached embassy on 6th May.
Till not the status is in progress, that is fine considering the delay is for most of us!.

My concern is that the purpose of visit for my parents was my convocation which was held on 8th of June is already passed. This is keeping me up at night, that whether they will reject their application as the date of purpose of visit has already passed.

My brother is in Canada too, he has his convocation on June 21st. Do I need to update this invitation letter now to reduce the risk of rejection as the purpose of visit is already due.

Or I should just wait? Is there any effect of this on their application?

Based on the timeline of other people in this forum, it seems like most probably in the coming week they will made the decision.

Your views will be much appreciated?

Your concern about approval of your parents' TRV application is understandable.

As the purpose of your parents' visit ,as stated in the application, is(was) to attend your convocation which has already gone by,it has become a piqued situation.
It solely depends upon VO as to how he /she perceives it.If human consideration, giving opportunity to parents to be with their son and thereby spend some quality time with him, comes forth there is still chance for getting approval for the application.Yes , if technicality is associated with the decision making,it may not bring good news for us.
I am afraid, providing update of your brother's upcoming Convocation and making it also the purpose of your parents' visit ,at this stage, may not help us. It is pertinent to say that your family ties back home will be a deciding factor.Since your brother is also in Canada, it may prompt VO to see if your parents' ties back home are strong enough to make them leave Canada within validity of Visa.

Having said all this,we should still hope,wish and pray for good.

Let us hope, human consideration is given priority for family unification and your parents' ppts get stamped with Canadian Visas.

PLEASE NOTE THAT IF THE ENVELOPE CARRYING CONSIGNMENT HAS ONLY PASSPORTS IN IT,THIS SHOULD BE THE MOMENT FOR CELEBRATION.

Wish and pray it happens like that !!!!

As per on line status , the visa application has been processed and PPT(s) couriered on 15/06/2016 .In all probability, the consignment will be delivered tomorrow .

I will update the Visa status ,accordingly.

It is sad that TRV application of your parents has not been approved.Wish it had brought a good news !!! Travel history, at times, does feature in VO's consideration so as to arrive at final decision.But, it is superseded by strong social ties back home.

yes,GCMS may make us abreast of the areas which have been viewed positively.On the basis of GCMS notes we may try to address VO's concern with strong presentation for review of the application.
