Temporary Resident Visa application at the NY Consulate

I applied for my TRV on the 11th of July and have still not heard anything from the consulate and they take forever to reply to any emails sent to them. I was supposed to go to canada a week ago and because they were not replying to emails and I could not just go in person to the consulate to go pick up my documents (i found that out) I couldn't go, but now i need my passport for other means and cannot wait any longer for it. I am also an au pair over here so my passport counts as my most valid form of ID. Does anybody know how i can just speed up the process?

Can you tell me why you could not go to the Canadian Consulate? Because I plan to go there tomorrow. I sent my applications on July 9 by Express with repaid envelop. And they said they will send back my passport shortly. But I haven't receieved yet.

I posted this already in another thread, but anyhow...

Sent my application on 07/17 from NYC, so they got it on 07/18. No passport yet. Emailed them twice last week, got a standard autoreply. However, today the consulate emailed the following:

"Dear Mr. XXXX, (I'm Ms. btw )

Ref your file: XXXXXX

Your application is still in process. Due to the volume of applications received during the summer period, we are experiencing some delays in the processing of applications.

Your passport will be mailed to you as soon as your application has been finalized.

Thank you for your interest in Canada.


Immigration Section
Canadian Consulate General
New York, N.Y."

My trip is next Friday, I plan to got to the consulate this Friday, early in the morning. Wish me luck!

Did you get your passport back? If you did then how long did it take for them to process it?
They take way too long to process visas.

I sent my application to LA consulate on July 10 and they received it on July 11 but I have not heard anything from them yet. I sent an email out yesterday asking for my status hopefully they will reply soon.

I applied for my in laws on by USPS on July 17th. They received on July 19th. If we say 30 days processing period it ended already few days ago. Meanwhile I send couple of emails. First email standard 30 days wait time. Second email they provided File number for both of them and informed to justify why you need to expedite process earlier than 30 days. I waited to finish 30days. Emailed them yesterday. No response so far. I would like to know visiting personally to Consulate office do they surrender passport? My in laws can come with me to NY but I am not sure going there do they handover the passport. Please someone help me on that. Also what is the approximate processing time. Thanks, Urmila

My doc were recived on 07/09,got mail form NY yesterday that they have dispatched the passport by express mail...waiting for mail to arrive...

44 days if I get it today

Iam not able to track it via USPS....looks like they gave me in correct tracking no...Hope it will arrive by today.......

Hi everyone,

I too am waiting for a reply from the NY consulate...they received my application on the 23rd of July....i have sent them an email 2 days ago hopefully getting a reply that its in the system atleast. I wanted to know if i can go to NY, inquire about it and collect in person...?
Also is NY taking walkin interviews????

It's really weird. I guess it's case-to-case basis. There's a guy who applied June 22 but haven't heard from NYC consulate. I applied mine July 13 too, hopefully I'll get it this week.

During my stay in USA I want to visit to Canada as a tourist. May I apply for Canada TRV in New York, when I have US Visitor Visa?

What visa are you applying for? You rejected twice for a visa is it visitor's visa?
