Yes, anything can happen in Canada. Harper and Chris can come up with some bogus CIT app fraud stories, that is, something like Al Qaeda members getting citizenship through fraudulent means and trying to infiltrate the federal government, and then they can shut down the CIT application program and win the upcoming election easily. Anything is possible in Canada. Because people here are so dumb and stupid.

Interestingly enough, a recent poll showed that immigrants (those not born in Canada) were more strongly in favour of tougher immigration laws than those born in Canada. Will try to find it since the stats were quite interesting...

Not surprising. Because once they have made it through, why would they care what happens to the people behind them? Maybe they know the benefits and not want to share. People are selfish like that.

I doubt Chris Alexander will follow that route. He is not as bellicose as Jason Kenney who think he is a prime minister material and need to achieve that ambition via xenophobia.....Xenophobia sell any time in western world if you open that Pandora box, you are assured 20 to 30% vote then add vote of folks that will always vote party line no matter what...eg Sarah Palin. I have listened to Chris interviews and his vision for immigration department, he seem to be trying to distance himself from Jason Kenney style..

I think this question need to be answered by a lawyer or specialist in canadian laws.
I think also that all of us should look at the larger image and not just what happening in Canada.
You know that all western country( the so called democratic and rich country, which really loot and steal the third world country raw material, and also dying in debt) are facing this era a major immigration flows.
the majority comes from Asia which makes a lot of sense since they are the most populated region in the world.
So what is the solution?
Asia's population is now estimated 4.3 billion. If just 1% settle here in canada which 43 millions. That just give them all legitimate power to rule this country.
and what if just 10% come to North America. 430 Millions new americans, when you know that USA+Canada = roughly 350 Millions.
Maybe I went to far, but the reality is this. They are struggling to keep there Nations flooded by migration flows.
My opinion.
