Hi Forumite,

i am currently in Canada studying and would like to know if i am eligible to fill for tax return as an international student?. my wife and two kids live with me currently in Canada.

yes, you can and you should. You may be eligible for some benefits that you won't get without filing.

Hello Dav1d0,

If you file your tax return, you will be able to get benefits like the GST/HST and Trillium credits/benefits. In addition, depending on where you are studying, you may be able to claim a tax credit for the fees paid to your institution in which you are a student. These credits can then be used to reduce your income in the current year, or carried forward to a future year.
