Taking Prescription medication into Canada

Hello everyone,
I was just issued a PRTD and im due to travel on December 18th. I am a type 1 (insulin dependant) diabetic and i want to take a supply of insulin shots and stuff like that to travel. Is there a limit on how many I can take? Can I reapply for my OHIP once I land or is there a delay period? Also, if I want to find a doctor to regularly go to in Ontario do I need to go to a general doctor (like a family doctor) first? Can't I just go to the specialist right away?

Maximum of 90 days supply. You'll need to be referred by a doctor.

Can you let me know how your friend was able to carry Insulin to Canada. My mother is coming to Canada and takes insulin twice a day.

I also verified that insulin supply has to be carried in cabin baggage and not to be checked in. If 90 days supply of insulin has to be carried in cabin baggage, then was it kept in a fridge or any special types of bags to keep insulin cold?

You can carry Medical supplies you need to have prescription from Doctor and keep receipts .
You can buy Frio case (google it) , and you can carry insulin or other medication which need to be kept in cold for 48 hrs .Airlines also provide ice cubes/bags if required.
