Hello everyone,

I am looking at getting my sister in-law a visitor visa but I am wondering if she brings her daughter if that would hurt her receiving a visa? My sister in-law is a Russian citizen.

What are her ties to Russia? Does she own a home or have a husband remaining there while she visit She? Does she have sufficient funds of her own to pay for the trip?

Honestly she has very little in ties to Russia. She lives with her parents at the moment and has a job that is considered unofficial "being paid under the table". My wife really wants her niece to come for a visit but I have my doubts that either will get a visa. I am not sure what her financial situation is but I am sure I will need to provide financially for her stay here. She is unmarried.

Including her daughter will reduce her chances of approval since indicating she wants to take her daughter with her further reduces her ties to her home country.

Having said that, I agree with you. Even on her own, she's going to have an uphill battle being approved with no property, no assets, and no (legal) job.
