Syrian student in Canada with expired passport

Hi everyone, I've been searching and searching for an answer but it seems hopeless, please hear me out.

I am a Syrian student studying in PEI Canada, I have a valid study permit up until 2016, however I am about to graduate in the coming year (2015). My passport is expired, and from what I understand there is currently no Syrian passport renewal in North America, before anyone suggests calling the embassy in Washington, I don't even think I CAN renew my passport (mandatory military service) and if I do, I will only get 6 months to 2 years. I also understand my post-graduate work permit cannot be had without a passport. I'm about to finish my degree, I work here too and have already started a life that I can't see ending in a flash.

ANY advice from anyone in a similar situation or has encountered anyone please share!

Could i ask you what happened with you cause iam in the same situation ( but iam PR ) .
