As many of you probably are on here, these applications get me nervous and worried which has delayed me from making a submission. My PGWP expires at the end of July and I have been working hard to get my inland application in the mail. The only thing I have left is to finish the open work permit application. However I am having second doubts reading all of the turn around time for inland and reading all of the quickness Americans (like myself) have with outland application.

My question is, is it pretty difficult to start an outland application from scratch or can I use a lot of the forms and photocopies I made for inland? Obviously the biggest thing for me is I don't want to be separated from my wife.

Have you already sent your inland application?
You can't switch to Outland.
If you already submitted your package, you have to withdraw and reapply with outland forms.
It's a different process.

You need to start over with a new package . The good news is that you have answered most of the questions before so starting over will be much easier .

No I have not sent anything. Was thinking of double triple checking all of my answers and documents for accuracy but after reading on here and other sources outland seems like such a better decision. However, if it takes me several months to complete then it won't work.

That is great news. If I can plug and chug that will make me very happy. Obviously I want to be as accurate as possible too.

You can not get an open work permit with an Outland application. The benefits of Outland is that you can leave the country without worry if your visa exempt and you can appeal if things don't go as expected . It is normally quicker than Inland.

It shouldn't take long to fill out the outland forms. Most of the questions are the same. The documents you need are the same. You already have the proof you need that your relationship is genuine.

As an American, unless money is absolutely an issue DO NOT FILE INLAND. It's a simple waste of time when you can file Outland and be done in ~6-9 months and even stay with your spouse the entire time. Sure, you can't work, but you can just stay with them as long as you don't stay longer than your visitation, which you can extend.
This is honestly my opinion though, being American myself.

Hi Guys,

I have a similar question, I applied my Inland application on June 2nd. I am waiting for AOR.

I have OWP till Oct. 2016. After reading so many posts here looks like Inland process takes much more time then Outland.

So is it good idea if I withdraw my inland application now and then apply for outland? I am very confused.

And If I withdraw my application do they return the money which I paid or not?

Thanks in advance.

Good news guys! I got a doctors appointment with one of the approved medical practicioners for early August so i will be doing the outland application. I have not submitted my application but have paid for it. The inland outland applications both have the same cost and receipt printing process right?
