Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
For me I waited another 12 days, and submitted my package on May 18,2015.
Wish I could wait longer but I am afraid the c-24 will take effective soon...

I'm 100% sure of my travel dates also. All my dates are stamped in my passport, and I kept all boarding passes.

You have a good buffer.

Don't be surprised if you get extremely fast processing (I'm serious)

I'm actually WORRYING about that. I've been granted a really good scholarship abroad and will be out of the country for a year. I'll inform CIC when/if I get the visa, so they don't process it too fast, and don't call me back when I'm abroad. I'll come back if they do and won't postpone a test date, but ideally I'd stay there for the year.

But I want to 'lock' my eligibility for a later date (I mean, don't have to take a year off). The scholarship is a one-time kind of thing, so if I come back I'll have to quit my school year and in the next one wouldn't be able to have a scholarship.

I support your idea, because this education seems to me much more beneficial.

Many people think that when they get the Canadian citizenship their live will change dramatically in good direction. The truth is that most of them continue to live in the very same way as before.

Yeah, I want to go to grad school so this would be extremely beneficial to me.

Although, with Canadian citizenship I would have more possibilities open to me: for example, I could theoretically try to join the RCMP, CIC, CSIS, CBSA... My academic background is relevant to all of them, heh. At the same time, it's not at all guaranteed that I'd actually join them and I'd likely regret not taking on this opportunity abroad, which is very temporary. My life is here now (and has been for years), and hopefully they'll see it and not hold this trip against me.

Decisions, decisions...

4 months.... but it's not that I waited for .... it was just for personnel reasons. I consider that if someone has exactly 1095 days well calculated there is not valid reason to wait.

Not if you goal is to get a TN visa and hop to the US. It can open up a lot of opportunities if you qualify for a position under NAFTA. I know at least two people who immediately bolted to the US when they got the Canadian citizenship.

The other big benefit is the Canadian passport. Depending on your current passport, getting a Canadian passport can open up a lot more visa-exempt entry to a lot of countries.

As for the original question - I think I had about 11-12 days extra. The buffer served me well as I was off by one day when the interviewer checked my stamps.

I'm sure that you also know people who are trying to get government positions as a job, and they keep on waiting for years for a real offer.
Being Canadian only gives you the right to apply. The actual hiring is another story. You know what I mean.

So you took the right decision to study.
