Surname Issue

I have received the ITA and now trying to complete the application.
I have an issue with the name field. In my passport I have both my first name and my surname, but in my study documents I don't have any surname its just my first name.

Please suggest on below two point:
1. Shall I select "Yes " on the question asking "Is the person ever known by any other name"?
2. If "YES" than what shall I fill in First Name and Surname fields as both the field are mandatory.

"Is the person ever known by any other name"? means if you are known by an entirely different name than your current first name and sur name.
In my study documents also my sur name was not expanded any where. It was just initial. But in passports and employee documents i have it expanded. I did not faced any issue.

Thanks anoop. Also while I am updating the contact details of my relatives again surname is giving issue as this field is mandatory and few of them does not have surname. Please suggest how to proceed

Expand their second name initials. If they take passport, thats how it will happen and their initial expansion is normally their sur name.

As per suggestiosn on this portal, I gave a YES for "Is person ever known by another name" and selected name type as "other" and list names varaitions. Only changes were to my Surname/Last name shortened differently on different educational documents.

I thought its better to explain this with " one and same person affidavit" rather than letting a CIC official interpret it in whatever way he/she likes it.

Any other thoughts experienced memebers?

But your's is a slightly different scenario, where have a Last name ..present or missing from doc to doc.
This can look like a name addition. And you are better off explaining it in anycase.

The report is issued under my full name (with expanded surname) , but against each credentials name, they indicated my name in short surname format only as in my educational documents. Also, they gave this statement at the beginning of the ECA report. "The names on one or more of the academic credentials submitted for evaluation differ from the name indicated above." I am worried if this causes any issue while applying for PR. Please throw some light here if you also have your ECA mentioning the same.

in my ECA nothing mentioned like that. My second name was not expaned in any educational documents. But just mentioned as Anoop S. In my passport and all other places, the second name expanded.

Give the name as per passport. For different name, choose 'Yes', choose alias, and then give the name with initials. Upload one and same person affidavit (google this forum for template) as proof when it asks for document related to name change.

I had first name + initials for last name in educational documents.. and my employment documents had initials for last name first name. I did the same and I already have PPR.

How long ago was your ECA done by WES? Mine just completed this week. I am wondering is this some new format being followed by WES. Can you please let me know whether you name was expanded in ECA report under credential section?

While creating ECA application with WES, you need to create with passport name. WES will put initials and put your full last name inside the bracket in their report.
While creating express entry profile, you need to create with passport name.
Once you receive invitation and when you submit express entry PR application, it will ask you if you have any other name. In that place, you need to give 'Yes' and mention your name with initials. It will automatically generate a placeholder for submitting proof of name change, and it is here where you need to upload the one and same person affidavit.
